I thought this was a really stupid question earlier, now it's a legit question.

But we have played a few teams with great defenses. Baltimore, Pittsburgh, and Jacksonville are all top 10 Defenses.

The Saints are the only elite offense we've played and they lit our ass up.

I'm still gonna say the offense is a little better, I'm still not completely sold on the D being as good as the numbers.

There is really nothing to add, you have watched the games just like I have. What is your opinion?

I couldn't re-open the poll in the previous thread,

When the offense does not have Andre Johnson, even though the defense doesn't have Mario.... maybe.

But with Andre, and without Mario, this team will go as far as the offense takes them.

Yes, but I'm not sure they'll be top 5 by season's end.

Yes, I think the defense is better, but probably not after AJ returns. I don't know about top five, but maybe top ten.

I think Jacksonville's defense was better than its offense.

Well... with Mario out and Kareem Jackson starting...
    Hell no.

But then again Andre is out and Jacoby is starting...

FWIW, footballoutsiders has our offense at 6 and defense at 11. This ranking is adjusted for opponents' strengths. Given how horrible Jacksonville's offense is and how good their defense is, I'm going to assume this ranking more or less stay the same through week 8.

It's so close no doubt, we could easily end the regular season ranked #7 for BOTH offense and defense...

If you told me earlier that we could be a top 10 defense last year I would have lol...now it's real. Cushing is real, Joseph is real, Foster too, btw which has outperformed Earl Campbell in the first 20 starts with more 100 yard games. . .

As of right now, we are currently

4th in defensive 3rd down conversion
3rd in Yards per game allowed
    5th yards per play
    5th points per game allowed
7th in 1st downs allowed per game
    3rd in Time of Possession
    5th Pass deflections per game
6th in Rushing yards allowed per game
5th in Passing yards allowed per game
    1st in Pass Completion Percentage
    4th in Yards per pass
    3rd in Defensive rate

Currently we are 7th in Passing TDs allowed, but the top six have only played 7 games. So basically we are 1st in Passing TDs allowed per game

We are one of only five teams who hasn't given up a 60 yard play

If you look at our schedule ahead, I dont see where our D is gonna fall off, It looks like it will continue to improve.
