They already gave away #35 to an undrafted rookie.

    I honestly doubt it.

What exactly did he accomplish for them? The finals once? That team was stacked and the fans will remember Westbrook for that instead.

Westbrook will get retired, not KD imo

Besides the occasional hospital bombing, I don't think anything else happens in Oklahoma City... they'll retire KD's number just to sell tickets and so the city can have some form of a big celebatory event. They aren't winning a championship so that and retiring westbrook's jersey will be the only celebration that city will ever have. Hopefully they'll sell that team back to Seattle where it belongs!

Most players can only dream that their franchise will fail them so horribly they end up making the conference Finals two times in three years, both times having at least a 3-2 lead in the series. The OKC front office definitely screwed up (thank goodness), but they continued to put a team around Durant that was talented enough to win. That wasn't enough for him. Some combination of not wanting to play with Westbrook and not wanting to face the pressure of being the main guy made him leave.

He had a very good run with OKC: an MVP, a Finals appearance, multiple Conference Finals.. If he had left last summer to go to Boston or Houston, or really anyplace other than GS, I would still be retiring his jersey if it were my decision. But given that he decided to simultaneously cripple the franchise and make the team that just beat them in the playoffs damn near unbeatable for the next half decade, I hope they never retire it.

If OKC doesn't retire his number, they are a classless and thankless organization. What do you expect from a bunch of OU nuthuggers.
