The Steelers and Eagles are playoff contenders? LOL WUT?

 

"Playoff contenders" (in quotes) before the season started. Yes. Check the internet and you'll see people picking both teams to make the playoffs.

 

Nobody had the Steelers or Eagles winning their division let alone making the playoffs. Please share your internet sources Chris Brousard.

Way too early to claim that... It's clear that both teams are better than everyone anticipated. If they end up in the 7 to 9 win range, they're most definitely playoff contenders.

Seattle, Saints, NFC EAST winner, Packers, Bears and falcons. the 49ers not making it is just as probable as the chargers/philly and steelers being in the playoff hunt.

 

You're contending that SD and Tenn are not playoff contenders...Im simply saying that it's too early for that, given that Tenn has beaten the Steelers (a team that some thought was a playoff contender) and SD has beaten the Eagles (a team that does not suck).

Both teams we have faced seem to be a lot better than anticipated.

And for what it's worth, check NBC Profootball talk's predictions...a couple of the writers there predicted the Steelers in the playoffs and one of them had the Eagles in the playoffs.

Elite means having 2 balls, and 2 balls only. I think Schaub has 3 big ones that are slowing him down to run and to think. This team is not going to win a super bowl with him as QB.

 

The Titans are a lot better than I expected them to be. From what I've seen so far, I think they're better than the Colts.

and also...Matt Schaub is not an elite QB.

 

^ I can see the talking heads using that logic as gospel. we could have used Ward at cornerback or defensive end in 2010. then, in 2011, he played how many games with crazy eight ? 10 games, 7-3?

as for only having one playoff appearance. it wasn't til schaub was 29 that the organization finally addressed getting better in the defensive backfield.

It took brees 2 playoff appearances followed by 2 seasons were he missed the playoffs to get to the superbowl.

It took manning 6 playoff appearances to tebow his way to a ring.

Little manning, 2 wild card losses before reaching the superbowl.

I try not to throw the word "hater" around a lot but it's hard not to use it here.

 

His accuracy and vision are elite.

His mobility and arm strength are not.

His decision making is arguably elite.

 

Were the Colts and Vikings considered playoff contenders at the beginning of last season? Heck, I don't think many people even had the Seahawks as playoff contenders either.
