Don't know why I'm bothering to reply. You're the person who tried to argue that some indie flick that grossed a total of $3000 was some kind of Hollywood tribute to the Japanese Internment.

    But here goes...

"Not allowed to exist", as in whatever roles they may have in the media are either not created or whitewashed. Or in the case of athletes such as Jeremy Lin, unfairly stereotyped and not given certain opportunities. Or in the case of professionals, being denied promotions to positions of power despite having better academic and performance credentials than their white counterparts.

Name as many well-known and mainstream Asian American male role models who are not named Jeremy Lin or Bruce Lee (too old).

The Rockets were 18th in home game attendance this season, so that "Asian money" is probably not even enough to cover Greg Smith's salary.

Is Toyota Center a big stadium? Was it empty a lot?

    Do the rockets own it?

Why is it called Toyota Center?

    Isn't Toyota an Asian company?

You do realize people in Asia don't fly to Houston to buy home game tickets to watch the Rockets? They boost online viewing numbers, merchandise sales, and endorsements.

I can name you five right off the bat: Ryan Higa, Timothy De la Ghetto, and Wesley, Ted and Philip of Wong Fu Productions. ;)

Do you mean to tell me that you can't even name a single one yourself besides Sir Lee and Jeremy?

that number is skewed because toyota center total capacity is only 18,043 while other stadiums are around 20,000 capacity... we actually fill out an average of 92.4 % of the seats... that is not too bad... other than court seats there are also other avenues to make money... sponsors, cut from NBA money, tv deals, etc... ... they post an annual revenue of 140-160 mill per year... while our team salary is only 54 mill...

actually according to forbes we are the 5th most profitable team this year based on total net profit @ 27 mill...

GEEZUS, how does it feel like to get blown apart by facts.

I guess the alternate universe people create for themselves starts to crumble. It's a bit like watching Fox News and then going outside.

Roxlove, as a gay man into Asian men (bottom of sexual appeal ladder as your article stated), I'm surprised you are so close minded. Shouldn't you teach children that role models can be of any race and creed, as long as they have certain attributes and morals? Why do they have to be Asian? They can look up to a stand up guy like Shane Battier for who he is, and the extra prep he puts into his career because he's not talented or athletic, and not feel alienated because he isn't the same ethnicity as them.

Why put all your hopes and expectations on a fringe player just because... he's Asian?

Atleast guys like Bruce Lee and Yao Ming had the skillset to be at the top of their game. Lasian fans right now are creating a strong denialist culture that can only backfire and reinforce emasculative stereotypes.

As far as dating, people like who they like. I've never come across someone who fell in love with an Asian girl/guy, then stopped and broke it up... because they didn't fall in line with mainstream stereotypes.

Don't worry so much about racial agenda's and have the confidence to be your own person and it makes it easy to look past race. It's 2013 (that article is 10+ years old), that excuse just doesn't fly.

No, not at all. Come on now, you said you had a Chinese girlfriend and had some stinky eyes from Asian guys or something?

    Um...

In case you haven't realised, Roxlove is a certified lin hater and troll. So you're barking up the wrong tree there, feel free to read his post history if you don't believe me.

This is an interesting point of view... It makes it much clearer where many of the Lin detractors are coming from, but you are far from the mark.

The reason so many asian americans (I'm Indian Irish btw) are Lin fans is not because they see him as a fringe player, but because they see him as someone who is actually very talented, very good and hard working and that this talent is being kept down and denied because of racial discrimination.

In short, they see Lin as an extension of themselves, because that's exactly how they feel that they've been treated, looked over for jobs/promotions, hot girl not interested in them etc etc, because of strong racial stereotypes that are still quite widespread in America.

The fact that you think Lin is a fringe player is the issue.

His speed and size are elite for his position. He has shown the ability to produce elite performances, despite being repeatedly written off.

People seem to go to extreme lengths to discount his talent... a very simple example...

The two and a half months post the all star break when he was fully healed up and averaged 18/7 per 36 while averaging 39% from 3 point land is not a good indication of his current playing ability.

But the games that he was unable to use his shooting arm due to injury in the playoffs are the definitive guide to just what a real scrub he is.

Just like all of his performances in Linsanity count for nothing... meanwhile... the one game against Miami was the true indicator of what he was as a player.

If there's one thing I've noticed about Lin's detractors, it's their incredible capacity for intellectual hypocrisy, all while accusing everyone else of liking him only because he's asian and 'cherry picking' stats.
