I don't get this sentiment of let's get rid of Royce White. And replace him with what?....JuJuan Johnson?...cause he's still available. You can only carry 12 active players. That means 3 guys on on roster should be developmental. If White didn't have a few problems, he'd be gone in the first 5. I say send him to D-league and let him work it out.

What does his anxiety have to with him being a dirty thief? The guy just has bad character.

"When White was a freshman at Minnesota, he called me and said he wanted to talk about his 2009-10 suspension from the program at a local restaurant. The team benched him after a shoplifting incident and an investigation surrounding a stolen laptop. I waited for two hours and then I called him. He had ultimately decided to postpone the interview but failed to notify me."

If he won't show up, can't the Rockets try to get his contract voided?

Actually his illness does explain some of this stuff. Not that its excusable.

So many of you know little to nothing about mental illness. Sure, some of his behavior has been unfortunate, but it wasn't unexpected. Ideally, I would've loved for him to have found a balance and broken into the rotation, but we knew there were going to be bumps in the road. Maybe the bumps have been bigger than expected, but like it's been said, he's not in the rotation so we can hope he finds a mental balance in his current place as a D-Leaguer/bench warmer.

In other words, it's better for him to have his struggles adapting to the NBA life and figure things out now then when we've given him a key role on the team.

Statement from Royce White: "In hindsight, perhaps it was not a good idea to be open & honest about my anxiety disorder, due to the current situations at hand that involve the nature of actions from the Houston Rockets. As a rookie, I want to settle into a team & make progress; but since preseason, the Rockets have been inconsistent w/ their agreement to proactively create a healthy & successful relationship. At this point, the Rockets are aware of my position & the reason for my absence. Any other response is inaccurate. This is important to me. It is a health issue. I must advocate for my rights. It is a player-commodity league. The failure to meet my requests for support will end with me being unhealthy & that is not a consequence that I am willing to accept to play any sport."

His actions arent exactly helping his anxiety either. Surely he must be thinking what are my teammates thinking, what will my coaches say, what will the execs say and do about it?

Everyone seems a little on edge here with all these rash threat starts asking to kill players off. Starting to look like a Knicks Forum. and no that isn't a good thing.

The sad thing is White setting a bad precedent for future players with similar difficulties

Yeah, after this debacle nobody is going to want to draft a player with a mental disorder again. Kind of a shame.

You can't get ride of him. He'll sue and get awarded trillions in punitive damages.

The Rockets need to do damage control. Don't ask me how though.

It isn't necessarily time to get rid of Royce White. It's time for the Rockets to plan HOW and WHEN they will let him go. Royce White has no future with the Rockets or in the NBA. They should do everything to protect their reputation and protect themselves from legal liability while cutting him loose.

Royce White brought up "trust". The Rockets will justifiably never trust him again nor will any other NBA team. Drafting White was a mistake that blew up in Morey's face. Should have taken Tyler Zeller.

I am as fed up as anyone else but it's too early to cut losses. It's not even December yet.

I've been saying this all night.

100% correct. Any progress his "team anxiety" campaign and the Grantland draft-day video had done to make people aware of how serious the condition is.....has been completely wiped out.

Wouldn't be surprised if he never played a game in the NBA, and he'll be looked on as a lazy kid who tried to get over on a team for a contract without having to play.

Maybe the Rockets can find a legal way to rescind the contract. We already wasted a pick. We should somehow get that money back.

The guy obviously is not ready.

McHale's choice of White and Sampson's coaching performance will factor in Les' choice of a head coach. I think McHale's stock is decreasing, no matter what Sampson says about the players loving him etc.
