Is it fair to judge Morey on wether he hits the "Home Run" or not?

I think he's done the best job you can do in his position. He came in with orders to build around Yao and T-Mac, but when two guys break down and take most of the salary cap there's not much you can do.

If Morey can get that franchise player, it's easy for him to find supporting players, but that's a big if. I think shipping T-Mac out of town like he did has kept other superstars from wanting to play here. It's unfortunate that no one wants to play for a team that will trade you at the drop of a hat, but they will leave you high and dry for greener pastures at the drop of that same hat. Superstar players have to much control of our leage now.

listening to LA radio yesterday they were talking at length about rockets and were going nuts for morey. In LA you hear the announcers and they sound like little children try to get into the room with the big boys when it comes to their view of morey and what he is doing with the 'moneyball' stats approach.

We may not always appreciate morey but I can tell you from the outside he is considered one of the top GMs and people love and respect him, what he has done for rockets and talk in a gushing jealous way.

It was not moreys fault that mcgrady and yao ended up hurt. We saw from the finals that battier is a good support player, getting scola was awesome, lowry for nothing, mandry nice move.. I mean the guy hasn't been terrible. Did he pass on deandre jordan? yes but its not like other teams didnt or that deandre jordan is the next jesus.

It's a long offseason, not everything needs to happen on draft night. Free agency doesn't even start until next week. But if we go into next season without an overhauled roster, Morey is a horrible GM.

I just had this thought when I woke up today. What if the trades are a way for morey to brace for the worst? He traded a center and a small forward and he fears losing a point guard in FA. So what if those trades were to replace those 3 players with 3 draft picks? ze

We haven't had a player that warrants that type of treatment IMO.

Under Morey this team has been the best team to miss the playoffs three years in a row. That's the worst position a GM can put his team in, worse than being the worst team in the league three years in a row.

Morey has failed so far. And this summer could be his last chance.

Morey, like everyone else in the organization, should be judged on wins and losses. That's all that matters in professional sports.

1 playoff win in 15 years speaks for itself.

I think he has done a pretty good job. All GM's are going to have hits and misses. As long as we had Yao, he was required to be in win now mode. Since Yao left, Morey has gathered assets and has given the team flexibility to make deals. Morey was very lucky the Gasol trade was blown up by Stern. If things had gone the way Morey had planned, we would now be stuck with Gasol and his horrible contract, and the often injured and overrated Nene. I think Les has instructed Morey to swing for the fences and trade for some stars, which I think is unfortunate, because I think this is a perfect time for the Rockets to go young and develop our own talent.

It's always fair game for sports fans to debate moves by a gm. However on clutchfans you have a large number of fans that wouldn't like any move he makes regardless of how much it makes sense in the end just really because they do not like him for one reason or another.

Whether you like him or you don't, I still have yet to hear a good suggestion of another available gm candidate that anyone truely believes could do a better job.

In interviews he seems perfectly happy being judged based on the results of putting forth a contending team, but seems to warn that he's realistic of the expectations of time in that process that fans just don't seem to understand.

Even if Morey did put forth a team that can contend, I'm sure some folks on here would find something about that situation they didn't like and THINK they could do better.

3 years is a short time to rebuild, OKC for example took 5 years to get where they are now and they started with Durant and Green on day 1. Most of the posters here have no perspective and think that Jerry West clones are sitting around, waiting for the time Morey is fired so they can step into the job.

All this rhetoric about home runs and growing a pair etc. are all driven by emotion and have no basis on fact and logic. In fact to me Morey has been way too risky, he's always trying to get a superstars like Bosh and Melo who have said they don't want to come here and now is reportedly trying to get Howard, even if Howard already said he will leave in 1 year.

Can't kill him for no home run, but feel free to judge if the team is not significantly better next year - playoffs or bust for Morey

LOL ok then, by this logic Don Nelson is the best coach in NBA history.

Most wins in history FTW

Also, OKC's GM should have been fired 4 years ago, his team was picking in the top 5 every single year for 4 years straight! What a horrible GM

I would say unfair, but because he's been promising it for years now... It's fair

This is an absurdly simplistic argument. Would you like Jerry Krause to GM the Rockets? The Bulls won a ton of games while he was GM, and six championships, and if, as you stated, wins and losses are all that matter in professional sports, we should get Crumbs on the phone stat.

You know Morey took over in 2007, right?
