Like Dwight isn't magically turn into Orlando Dwight, Houston Dragic will not average 20 and 6 every season.

Get that out of yr head. That guy is very good but not a star.

Not worth that kind of money. You can give it to him though.

    I voted no.

But if we go by the Chandler Parsons sale, he'd be worth that because hes a far more impactful player to this team.

Couple that with the salary cap spike and we could absorb those dollars proportionate to a 12-15 mill contract in todays salary cap approx.

Overall 20 million is still too much money to pay Dragic. There's cheaper oprtions for similar production.

Team as it stands is a play-off team dependent on favourable match-ups and streaky shooting. I think Dragic can be the catalyst to winning championships now because he is a playmaker that can take pressure off the Beard, put points on the board and fit in seamlessly. $20 mil for a genuine shot at a title, "Yes!" Championships changes perceptions.

The cap will go to 90 not 80. I saw the new contracts that will be normal and they are HUGE.
IF Dragic takes the max now and it's not a fixed percentage of the cap then yes he is worth it because pretty soon it will be a bargain.

I fully except all the good players that are up for extensions from their rookie contracts to take the QO. They will lose tons and tons of money.

Overpaying by a few extra million dollars with a rising cap is well worth it if it means getting the last major piece for a title run. It's not like we're going full-Brooklyn and throwing away our next 8 draft picks or anything.

Hell no. Dragic is good, but he's not the amazing guy people here make him out to be.

He's a great fit for this team, and the fact that he's not a max player is what made him more attractive to begin with. I'll be happy with Beverly/Caanan/Terry for this season if he wants a max

The Rockets have limitations. it is clear that Curry and Paul own the Rockets. however the Rockets are formidable against almost all of the NBA teams.

Can Dragic keep Curry and Paul on their toes? Sometimes the best defense is a good offense, because it makes the opposing player use up energy they would normally put to use on their offense.

I think that Dragic makes the game easier for Harden. Beverly as a defensive specialist is redundant, as the Rockets already have Ariza. and Ariza can defend the 1 2 or 3. So dragic can switch to dedending the shooting guard and Harden to defending the SF. or however is needed.

I think Dragic helps a lot, But the front court is still a work in progress. DMo is slowing down a bit. J Smooth needs to keep himself in check, because he has a tendancy to want to do too much. TJones is still trying to figure out his role while getting back to BKtBll shape. And Dwight is the biggest question mark in terms of his knee and health.

If Dwight was healthy, Dragic would be a no brainer. But how much Dragic helps without Dwight is of concern.

I still think that Morey can bring in another PG through analytics. but even that is a huge risk. we see how Shved worked out... that was a big fail.

We have something that Orlando team didn't have, Harden. And it's not about averaging 20/6 every year. It's about the quality of play at the point guard position. Get that in your head.

Because if we sign Dragic to a 19 million dollar contract, we will have maybe 78 million in salary without including terry, smith, brewer, shved, or Beverley.

There are a lot of moving parts depending on who would go out in the trade, but Dragic at 14 million vs Dragic at 19 million could be the difference in keeping or losing some of those guys.

I guess it depends how much you care about future flexibility vs. a serious shot at a title window. Dwight only has so much time...

    I repeat who cares?

There's a chance the Tax threshold is over 80 million this year and the apron is 4 million past that. In 2016 the threshold could be close to 95 million and the apron close to 100 million. Why are you trying to save Les's money. If there is a time to spend tons of money on team salary's now is that time with a built in reprieve on the horizon in 2016.

    Yes.

You consider the big salary cap hike in the summer of 2016. You will find $20M per is not that crazy by then.

$80 million in California isn't the same as $80 in Texas. $14-16 per season might be equivalent. Dwight's health is the main factor IMO. How confident are the doctors about his future health? Dragic shouldn't be signed unless the team def thinks he puts us over the top. If not, let Dwight's contract run out, then sign major players. Maybe we draft a great role player (or better) in the mean time. Harden will be 28 post-Howard.. prime for 4-5 years.
