Melo had his 3 best years when having pass-first point guards (Andre Miller, Chauncey Billups, and Raymond Felton). The key to unlocking Melo is Chris Paul. It really is that simple. *explains why he has his worst season ever with Westbrick
clearly you're just not paying attention to All Things Melo https://www.sbnation.com/nba/2017/8...hony-hoodie-melo-knicks-rockets-nba-offseason
lol, u can pencil me in for but I wouldn’t be surprised if the answer ends up being CP3 is the major key to me...he’s the main one we hope will get Melo to fall in line and buy in so we can try and get this chip Harden, CP3, and Melo winning a title cements their legacies...H-Town starving for another ring
This isn't Capela related but wanted to respond to this exact Melo comment. This is what GSW figured out on the Rockets. Was how to handle the shooters with the close outs. This is the "next level" the Rockets want to get to which is the ability "if need be" to create off close outs. The Rockets lose defense without Ariza but they GAIN this extra offensive dimension. Moving forward, this is where the Rockets need to be. To have at least 4 players that can put the ball on the floor to create havoc.
There's a happy trail of red dots from the 3 pt line all the way to the bucket along the left baseline. That's where we need Melo to live this year.
Yes, certainly that is the expectation, and I believe Melo can be an offensive weapon, if he is fit and willing to play the role asked of him. MDA will give him opportunities. Will Melo give us average defense against the stronger teams on matchups that aren't difficult for him? I think it's possible for him to do that, if he puts his mind and body into it.
