... He is better than your everyday Hustlin Role player. He is able to put up 14pts 7 rbs and 5 assists and other stats on a consistent basis.... and that itself is better than an average glue guy.
In context of a mediocre team. He is a role player, nothing more with that broken jumper and horrible free throw stroke.
Define mediocre.... You can't be mediocre being in the Western Conference while EC teams with better records are not necessarily better. Rockets are about Top 12 team in the League and maybe Top 14 .... that is slightly above average. And if they are overachieving they are close to Top 10.
put up a quiet 16 pt (6-12 FG), 8 rebs, 5 asts, 2 stl. tonight. 1-5 from 3 but hit the one that mattered.
Did you see how he stone-walled Evans and caused him to turn it over so much? That's why he's one of our key guys right now. Defensive potential is very high!
I would set Parsons trade floor at a package deal for a player like Granger. Say, Parsons, Scola, a #1 for Granger. Something like that. In the context of a mediocre team, Ramon Sessions was a role player. Nothing more with that broken jumper and admittedly not horrible free throw stroke.
Of course he's not untouchable, he tops out as one of the best roleplayers in the NBA, but he'll never be a star. Nobody is untouchable if we can get a franchise player back in the deal. That said I would like to hold onto him if we can
Parsons is amazing because he is an elite defensive player (makes few mistakes in the likes of Battier) and is extremely versatile on offense despite having HUGE but fixable (hopefully) flaws in his game. I almost see him as an early Rondo-type. This should be the roadmap to stardome: offseason 1 - improve freethrows, spot up threes 2 - improve 1v1 play, dribbling 3 - develop post game WIN!
He's the white Tayshaun Prince. No he's not untouchable. Really is remarkable how similar their numbers are, though. TP 2003 32 MPG 46.8% FG 4.8 REBS 1.5 TO 0.8 STL 0.8 BLK 10.3 PPG CP 2012 28 MPG 46.4% FG 5.0 REBS 1.2 TO 1.1 STL 0.5 BLK 9.0 PPG
Either way, I am stoked that we found a 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists guy that plays excellent defense and has a huge slong, in the second round. What a steal...
what if gogi and lowry both turn out to be stars? what is a star. some think losers like the monty ellis are stars? I'll keep saying it..with how mentally weak today's superstars are, and the true superstars like kobe, dirk, manu and parker getting up there in age..you can get to western conference finals and face the thunder easily with a team of above average players. Parsons is a keeper.
For no reason, I don't think Kevin Love is a superstar even if he put up 'quiet' 50 pts, or some 'quiet' 30/20 games. And I got the same feeling for Parsons. He can ball and will improve. We may see many 20/10/10 games and those will be 'quiet' achievements... I'm joking, and he's a star in the making.
He's screwed now. The Bucks have been in the playoffs in the last 3 years with Sessions on that team. A lot less mediocre than the Rockets.
If you wound up with the #2 or #3 pick in the draft (slightly more reasonable than trading for LeBron, but not much), and if we had the chance for Kidd-Gilchrist, MAYBE you look to move Parsons, who has much the same qualities as a player (high motor, plays D), but I doubt it. You'd move other players before you'd move Parsons. Parsons is playing like he could have gone Top 10 in the draft. Meanwhile, Marcus Morris continues to languish.
