Seriously. These pansy ass p*****s weren't old enough to experience the steve franchise experiment and the tmac/yao injury duos. lmao. How about when Rafer Austin dominating the league and throwing lobs to chuck Hayes days?
Plowman, take your own advice. Its a players league. Its clear to me that you've never competed at a high level in anything in life. It seems easy to a couch potato like you but you’ve never experienced it.
It is no myth that players also never publicly declared that they are coming to a ball club to play for Morey. But players have expressed their desires to play for somebody like Jerry West because he is a legend. I want people around who have that kind of pedigree, am I so wrong to think that might help? It shouldn't be a plan against someone but to add someone to the grand scheme of things.
You must have though Magic was a great GM lol. Jerry West has the benefit of building teams in the West Coast. That and building a team from tanking scratch in Memphis
Not to beat a dead horse, Holic-style, but have players actually said they wanted to play for Jerry West? Or are you basing that on the fact that his teams have landed some big free agents? I mean, he did great with the Lakers, but I didn't see A-list free agents flocking to Memphis during his 9 years there, 5 of which he was the actual GM. With the Warriors and Clippers, he's been an executive board member and their big FA acquisitions like KD, Kawhi and PG13 are likely more due to those teams being in desirable locations and/or situations. Don't get me wrong, I totally get what you're saying, that players like to see a franchise with former NBA legends in leadership positions. I just don't think that means anywhere close to as much as glitz and glamour (Butler), hometown ties (Kawhi and PG13), and the chance to win a guaranteed chip or two (KD).
You know what one problem with this board is? You lay out your idea, and dozen of people are the first countering it instead of finding good solutions. I said someone like Jerry West, and fellas are swarming me with Jerry West objections......'someone like Jerry West', his positives please. You have to find championship experience somewhere.
The bigger problem: Even when we do come up with perfect solutions, the front office never listens to us!
I think you got to find the right guy like what Buford did with Wright.....you got to have that fire and pressure from within. And not from your owner who is always cooking.
The theory of octogenarian Jerry West is an irresistible lure fits right in with pretty much everything Jerry West thinks about Jerry West., rather than the reality most of us inhabit.
Both Morey and MDA are overachieved in the regular season, but they will continue to be underachieved in the near future, Can GREAT team win 50% of playoffs games?
I said this on twitter responding to The Dream Shake's tweet.... This all rolls up to James Harden. He actually is underpaid. He covers for a lot of team's flaws, and Morey utilizes Harden's durability & talent to make cost conscious decisions at the margins and still win at a high rate.
Then I'm happy the max is limited as is . But yea, I agree. I'm also a big fan of Harden's size. My hope is that somehow that makes him more durable and extends his career.
