impressed by the scoring, not the rebounding, or the assists.. because steven adams might be the best pick and roll big in the league and sabonis and kanter mght be the best pick and pop bigs in the league, roberson, and grant can get up with the best of them and catch lobs for easy assists, and morrow, and abrines are decent 3 point shooters.. their is more talent on that thunder team then one would have you believe adams and kanter boxed out winslow, and derrick williams so that westbrook could grab multiple defensive boards last night againist the heat. i suspect this happens a lot. againist the marc gasol, hassan whitesides, demarcus cousins, anthony davis our frontline is no match. with the thunder they might have the biggest frontline in the league
That's an odd reason to knock the assists. Harden is assisting to elite shooters right now and had an elite PnR finisher before he got hurt. Talent wise they may have issues, but from a "finishing an assist" perspective Harden has great players all around him. The rebound criticism is fair though. I've watched a handful of games and I regularly see Thunder players actively avoid getting rebounds so that Westbrook can get them as well as Westbrook leaving guys on the perimeter to be ready for a rebound.
Greg Anthony and Kevin Mchale were rambling during halftime of the heat/thunder game last night that westbrook should be mvp over harden because assists come harder for westbrook. I simply disagree
The MVP is going to be given to Westbrook over Harden for the opposite logic used to give it to Curry over Harden
If they gave Curry the MVP the past 2 years because he was on the winning team, then Harden is the hands down MVP over WB. But according to ESPN bizzaro logic, WB is the MVP and nothing is going to change that. Even though the Rockets are "light years" ahead of the 7th place OKC(which is where they will finish). Rockets will be 2nd seed, but ESPN still insist WB has already won the MVP
I swear it feels like everybody and their momma at ESPN feel some type of way about Harden this was from last year could you imagine how stupid espn thinks morey must be to trade harden for isiah thomas, marcus smart, jae crowder and their trash http://www.espn.com/nba/insider/sto...t-howard-address-houston-rockets-problems-nba The Rockets rarely if ever get coverage on ESPN for their winning this year, remmeber when we lost to the lakers everything was funny, but when we beat espns sweetheart the warriors, they got quiet real quick. They even accused the rockets of making up the story that the mavs were playing dirty take away voting on awards from the media
By one measure, OKC so far has had the 3rd easiest schedule in the entire NBA, while facing the most difficult remaining schedule coming up. https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/ranking/schedule-strength-by-other https://www.teamrankings.com/nba/ranking/future-sos-by-other That's why I'm not overly impressed about Westbrook's stats, since he has this annoying tendency to absolutely kill weaker opponents but struggle against elite match-ups (tonight was the perfect example.) Expect to see Russ's numbers to come down from now on.
Would you rather have the 8th seed mvp or 60 W's? I like a w so so much. Multiply that by 60 and I'm 60 times happier.
Thunder guard Russell Westbrook had no assists in Thursday's loss to the Grizzlies. He not only had no assists-- he had no passes that even led to a shot.
Westbrook would have a better chance to win the MVP when more drama is created by the media between him and Durant. Some people would simply vote Westbrook to prove that Westbrook is more valuable than Durant because they hate the Durant's move to GS, as long as the OKC is not going to miss the playoffs.
