the ball moves in their system but people don't take much notice when shots are hitting. Obviously when the shots aren't falling and houston's offense looks terrible that's when people make it an issue. Again the movement isn't going to be the same as gs/spurs. It never will. They play to their strengths and with Lawson its a work in progress at the moment
for the opponent to NOW have to worry about defending a Harden/Lawson pick and roll is insane. If the other team has the wrong lineup defending Harden/Lawson on pick and roll like we saw a little bit of last night that will be tough to stop. Rox have never had anything like this before. Seeing Harden set a screen for Lawson you can see OKC didn't know what to do with that..pick your poison. I'm giving the Rox at least the 1st quarter to sort out the kinks before making assumptions. They're still figuring out all the new wrinkles they have on the fly...too early to make determinations in my opinion
not disagreeing with your post, but it also leads to the question of "what did they do in training camp and preseason". p&r isnt some new invention in bball.
And despite what people think about Capella, he is still not ready for big minutes. He continues to get better but he definitely has a way to go. Howard missing 2 games so far was a huge difference on top of the problems integrating all the pieces together.
You can't compare us A Spurs team that has 4 bigs (west, diaw, Aldridge, Duncan) who are known and shoot jumpers as first choice in their game
it isn't new but until you do it in a real game situation and see how other teams play against it, it won't be at the highest effectiveness until you learn both your own player's tenancies and the defense.
good question but now they see it worked last night in a real game. I'd imagine as they play more games they'll add more wrinkles as well as gaining more confidence in trusting one another in actual games
Yea exactly...it's like starting a new job with a new set of employees, boss and working environment. Same bell curve in sports joining a new team and everyone getting comfortable with one another in order to be most efficient
Spurs and Warriors offense looks great because they have actual shooters. Agreed we need less James dribbling to jack up a step back with 2 seconds on the shot clock when he is ICE cold. But Brewer is the worst qualifying 3 point shooter in the league, Arizia has been very streaky but should be better, Bev is average at best, Lawson should improve, Jones needs to only shoot outside if he has no other options with the clock running down, Terry is on limited minutes, Thornton can help, NEED D-mo to return he will do wonders for this offense.
This is a myth. You can play "Moreyball" and still run a good offense. Your plays just have to me catered to open three's and inside shots and cut out the Dwight post ups. Mchale has everyone fooled into blaming anything else but himself.
If you don't think the rockets have a good offense when they've been one of the highest scoring teams in the league then you're extremely confused on Moreyball and the way its run with Houston.
Time and DMO are the answers. Once Lawson gets in a groove and we get DMO back we're going to roll. There should absolutely be a plan B or C if the initial play breaks down. One of those should be a DMO post up instead of a Dwight post up. That will make a huge difference. Plus DMO is money from the corners and can pass out of the post with ease. You can run stuff through him, especially when you have Harden AND Lawson moving and cutting towards the basket and Dwight on garbage duty.
so when the bulls had Thibs why was their offense horrible when he's obviously the better coach over McHale.
Sounds very practical. Folks want Pops or Phil Jackson to walk through the door and that's just not gonna happen but this team has proven it can make the western conference finals depleted with Mchale...let's see if they can make it all the way at FULL STRENGTH with new wrinkles in the system come June. Sound logic dje243
Wait, that mouth-breathing donkey-face is ALWAYS huffing and puffing. That's what mouth breathers do.
That's actually not true. There are other candidates out there and I think there is a full thread of suggestions. Or Mchale could simply coach better. No need to speak for people in order to promote your brand of propaganda. I think people are doing just fine speaking for themselves.
