I purposely go out of my way to tell people from Texas that chili tastes better with beans just to watch them go into conniption fits.

People, the argument is not about whether soup that has beans and meat can be tasty. There are some damn fine recipes for that particular dish out there. The problem is, it's not chili.

jo mama: Why is it there's a Wiki entry for chili and chili con carne but not one for chili con frijoles? If you Google search for it, you get a lot of screwed up recipes from Yankees.

So vegetarian chili does not exist, I guess.

Oh well, I'll still continue to commit the cardinal sin of calling it chili.

If "chili" is short for chili con carne, then technically vegetarian chili is real chili. Isn't it?

Chili con carne, minus the carne, is pure chili.

Technically that would be so if you just had chilis. However, once you put beans and squash and whatever other abominations go into that dish that must not be named, it is in reality, soup.

It's alright on spaghetti, but it gives me wicked heart burn.

I am going to try to make lady bird chili.

i dont know why wiki dosent have an entry for chili con frijoles. someone should create one.

i was just speaking from a historical perspective - the people who actually invented chili were not so hung up on whether or not there were beans in it - if they could afford to put meat in it that was great, but many were very poor and used beans instead as a source of protein. they still called it chili. if they had meat it was chili con carne.

from the wiki page on chili con carne...

Who the Hell cares what a guy from Chicago has to say about chili? People who like beans in chili can nibble my bag.

Wow, 4lbs of chuck is a lot more meat than I imagined... This chili looks good though.

Also, I remember calling it chili beans when I was a kid.

Why am I skimming the fat off the chili? This seems weird.

    4.5 lb hamburger
    1 medium Yellow onion
    1 medium white onion
    Much Garlic and Garlic water
    2 green peppers diced finely
    2 Jalapeno diced finely
2 Tablespoons of this super hot ass sauce I got in Mexico
    Lots of chili powder
    2 fresh large tom
    40 oz canned tom

    And fritos for after
