Going under the knife to get my hip replaced tomorrow. I've been medically cleared for 2 years and we finally have a chunk of time in order to get it done. It will be nice to pick stuff up off the ground again.
Overrated. But seriously, best wishes with the PT -- they're really good at these surgeries now and they use much better materials now, as I understand it. As in, you won't have to revisit this hip replacement later.
Good luck with everything, and I agree with @B-Bob , they've gotten really good at them, and getting you up and walking within hours. You'll do great.
Thanks to the "opioid crisis", you don't even get the good drugs to take home with you anymore. Ten years ago, you would have left the hospital higher than River Phoenix at the Viper Room. Instead, these days when you leave the hospital, they'll give you two advil and a bag of dirt to rub on the wound. Enjoy. And don't worry, we already all thought you were "officially old" so it won't change anything. Good luck. Hope it goes well.
Good luck @bobrek. From what I understand, it ain't like it used to be with these type of surgeries, and you'll hopefully be just fine and back on your feet quickly.
Good luck. My wife is a PT and works with post-op hip folks all the time, and my father in law had both hips and knees done. The hips are easy. You'll be back on your feet in days. The knee recovery is rough, though. Don't let those go out on you.
