Lance Zierlein There are whispers in the Steelers locker room that CB Ike Taylor could be the Houston Texans primary free agent target this offseason. what do yall think?
apples to oranges imo.. taylor is 30 and isn't thinking about retiring edit: this would be an excellent signing. a veteran corner finally in the secondary. now lose Sunday and draft a stud DT..
Taylor and Williams would make perfect sense for the Texans, but these are exactly the type of free agent signings that typically fall apart for this group (see Schobel). I don't think it's a coincidence that the two most disappointing seasons, relative to expectations, in the history of this franchise (2005 and 2010) came when veterans on D were shown the door and too much responsibility was placed in young hands.
I'd rather have DaDakota playing CB at this point than Kreamed Jackson, so Ike Taylor is t*** and beer.
Steelers aren't known to overpay to keep their FA, right? I think they lock up the ones they want to keep around and FA is a way of saying, "thanks, now go ply your trade elsewhere." Seems scary to me, wonder if they're just going to promote William Gay to starting CB? Fat Pat would be a welcome addition to the front three. I'd be curious to see who Phillips picks as his first defensive player in the draft: OLB (Von Miller?) or DL. And where he'd like to see Cushing line-up, OLB or ILB. I think he'll make DeMeco and Cushing the new Brady James and Keith Brooking/Sean Lee.
That would be a great signing. I need some positive news after this coaching decision nonsense that is taking place.
Bring on the wart-filled players. We need players - warts and all. Bring back Von - oh wait, wrong thread!! L-R: DL: Mario/Jamison - Williams/Mitchell - Smith/Lewis LB: Barwin - Cushing - Ryans - Miller/Anderson Secondary: Taylor - Pollard - FA/draft/Nolan/Wilson - Quin
Well, then I'd expect him to still sign elsewhere. Until this organization demonstrates that they can competent in free agency, I'll expect similar results to the attempted signing of Leigh Bodden last year.
I think of it more about the mishandling of the situation rather than the player . . . . Though the players are coming from different places Mishandling can still happen Rocket River
If it makes perfect sense for the texans, then we can go ahead and rule it out. sorry, wrong smiley..actually there is no smiley with tears coming out of the eyes like in yahoo mssgr.
Hey, we've thrown good money after some Free Agents in the past, they've just never panned out. Robaire Smith, Morlon Greenwood, Antonio Smith, Jacques Reeves ring any bells?
