If you had to construct a starting 5 from former Rockets role players, what would it look like?

Mutumbo, Chuck Hayes (I think he still counts as former player), Mario Elie, Glenn Rice, Rod Strickland

I think some of you don't know what a role player is. Lowry? Dragic? Maxwell? John Lucas? They were often our best offensive options and starters for the most part.

    PG Lowry
    SG MadMax
C Kunnert (found it hard to think of a C who wasn't an all-star or a flop)
    PF Thorpe
SF Battier or Ariza or Reid

Capela, DMo, Robert Covington, Troy Daniels, Aaron Brooks

That took like 30 seconds to think of. I follow the D-League way too much.

Lowry and Dragic both came off the bench and were taken off other teams hands as rather unknown quantities. They most certainly were role players for an extended period while wearing Rockets red.

Yes they turned out to be starter quality. And if I had to put a team together and my job depended on it I would pick them.

When you put up 18 a game you are no longer a role player - both of those guys were putting up star-like numbers for us before they left / got traded.

Well, we can all agree they were good starters when they did start. Hence, me not putting them in that category. Neither played as role players because they were the offense when they weren't injured. I think of role players as guys that were never really the first option for anything. In other words, rarely the leading rebounder, rarely the leading scoring, rarely the leading assist man, and rarely the main reason we won. That's why I wouldn't put Cassell, Maxwell, Horry, Thorpe, or John Lucas on the list. If you consider those guys role players, I understand. I just don't. To me they were the foundation players for winning.

They may not win a lot of games but other teams are going to have to fight(maybe literally) for every point and for every win against them.

    Lowry
    Maxwell
    Horry
    C.Hayes
    Motiejunas

Would consider swapping Hayes/Motie with Scola/Asik
