The way he plays matter the most, not the number of touches or usage level.

Rockets gave him a 3 year $25M back loaded contract which at the time was an overpay for a small sample fluke.

The big question here can D'Antoni be the kind of coach who instills discipline and can exploit match-up strengths and weaknesses.

The other big thing is what will happen this summer with FA.

So it's a wait and see game - if they bring in the right shooters, and he can actually get the team to play D, then this team could be good next year.

I am not holding my breath.

This is what happens when we don't have moderators on this forum that put their foot down and say enough is enough. We get stupid threads like this that essentially dumb down the discussions.

Nope, you are missing on the big question. That is HARDEN buying into the system and playing defense. This is the biggest question. That solves more than 50% of Rockets' problems. When your primary player buys into the system, everybody will, eventually. Next to the HC, Harden is the "man". If he can't be that "man" then Rockets had already failed. You can bring any FA that you want, you'll not change anything, of course unless you bring in somebody who can depose Harden and that would be rare. Why do you think GSW are playing great basketball? It's because their "man" or "men" buys into their system. Even the great teams of old. Everybody buys into the system. Just ask Olajuwon, MJ, Bird, and Magic (my favorite players of the 80's and 90's). D'Antoni's system (in itself, an amalgamation of different existing systems) is already great and is already proven. It's the players that implement it were the bigger question.

So tell us anything here that crossed the boundaries? Be objective. It's not good to be biased due to past experiences.

I find it odd that there's a discussion about Lin returning to Houston.

Yes he's initial success was playing for D'Antoni but it's in the past. Life moves on.

You can't follow someone around, just not smart.

Lin's gone and he won't be back.

Everyone acts like he's the only option out there

Take the blinders off, there are other PGs out there that will FIT in Houston

I don't think he is a good fit for this team.

I think Lin would do better under D'Antoni.

I'd like to get a better pg than Lin, but if Lin is all that is available, he's certainly better than a Beverly / nobody pairing. We another pg.

If Charlotte doesn't have money to pay him then it's a possible.
Especially if MDA is trusted by Les to make personel decisions.

I really really hope it doesn't happen.

I hope Charlotte would lock him in..and Clifford loves him...my fear is that there's a chance he would come back due to MDA...remember the Rox goin back to China this offseason..another marketing for our grandpa owner

This is what i think too.

That's another reason to hope we can sign two max players, cause if we don't, i'm ready to see us going after Anderson, Lin...paying them a lot.

He's ok but surely there's got to be better choices out there for FA PGs.

Still, I wouldn't complain about having Lin back if we got a stretch 4 (no offense to Beasley) that can rebound and play defense. Coupled with a slashing/shooting style SF.
