Not to mention, Brooks isn't exactly doing himself any favors by laying an egg in a contract year. Pouting, under-performing and giving the organization little motivation to retain you isn't exactly the best way to secure your future.

I think that simple fact takes precedence over any sort of policy issue Brooks might feel is out of tune.

A lot of the previous seasons "big game" FA snubs came because of uncertainty of Yao's health. They thought he was done, and he was.

Ariza came out here despite a lower contract because we had great chemistry and he was promised a larger role.

Whether or not he panned out, I'm not too sure of the "FA consequences" from dealing him to another team because of his attractive contract.

I do think it affects the unspoken morale of the team, but not sure by how much.

    QFT.

People need to shutup and realize that this isn't about hating someone or llowry's chance at fame, its about the rockets becoming a worse team without brooks.

The world doesn't give a **** if you think you're better than that other dude who got promoted. You have to prove it. And right now, Brooks hasn't done that at all.

No reason to start one of your stupid threads when you could've just made this comment in this thread:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=200340&page=1&pp=20

Oh wait, you did say something similar:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=5934708&postcount=103

I guess when nobody responded to your attention-whoring ways, you had to start a new thread. We get it, you're one of the many apologists of the Morey regime. They can do no wrong in your eyes. Whether you like it or not, where it's true or not, there is the perception amongst the Rockets' players that they're viewed as nothing more than easily expendable assets by the organization. That doesn't bode well for Houston's rep around the league.

With Brooks, just wait him out until the trade deadline. Then he will have to get his act together. Selling low isn't the answer.

If no one offers a nice package for him then play him after the trade deadline.

Do you understand the difference between on the court and off the court? We don't need scrubs who can't keep their financial "troubles" off the court.

Is there not a middle ground between A) "kinder, gentler, always keep and overpay role players", and B) "not pretending that a player is injured to drive down his value during a contract negotiation" or "not pissing off one of the classiest guys in the NBA" or "not refusing to even try to negotiate reasonable contracts with players before they're up for an extension and/or another team makes them an offer"?

Coach has given AB tons of opportunities to prove himself yet he still fails.

How many times will you boss let you get away with under preformance before you get fired?

I don't really understand your reasoning. T-Mac was the highest paid player in the league last year so I'm not sure what extra money we could have giving to him. As far as free agents are concerned, they know exactly how much money they will be getting from the Rockets because we will be offering them a guaranteed contract to get them here. Players like Howard, CP3, and Melo aren't worried about how much money teams are offering role players like Brooks and Landry. The Rockets have continually shown that they are willing to pay top dollar for the best players and only refuse to over pay role players.

    No, whats the difference.

We dont even know what the issue is here, this is all pure speculation at this point. It could have absolutely zero to do with contracts, extensions or starting.

Maybe he has personal issues. Maybe he is is extremely frustrated with his play. Who knows. Maybe its the losing?

People should ask themselves if Brooks' contract wouldn't be an issue if the team was winning.

    Winning cures everything.

It made me more proud of the organization.
we were held hostage by a star player who was dishonest about his health and communications to the team.

morey gave him what he wanted, he went to the knicks which are a top market to showcase his 'comeback'..

The knicks have been disfunctional for the past decade. Wilson Chandler hasn't gotten an extension. If fact, they're dangling him in the Melo trade talks. David Lee didn't even get a meeting regarding his free agency until they talked to the big fish first. Starbury got the exact same bench treatment that Tmac did. And D'antoni basically suspended Nate Robinson for a month in a contract year. Their record with coaches isn't any better. They've been fined for illegal workouts and sued for sexual harrasment.

Contrast that with San Antonio, who basically treats all their players with respect and has a reputation of being one of the most professional front offices in the league. Popovich has been there forever. The players all like each other. The big players all get extensions and never hit free agency. Their draft record is remarkable for where they draft. The fanbase is loyal. They won four championships in a decade.

Now which team do you think will get more free agent buzz after Tim Duncan retires?

Except Battier is playing better than last season.

Lowry played hard as a backup and earned himself a good contract.

AB is showing he can't handle that.

I don't understand why you keep bringing that up? He was given an oppertunity when rafer left and started after one season and just after 2 seasons he got the MIP award. That doesn't prove himself?

When examining the track record and clearly seeing that there were some external factors influencing his play are you seriously going to say he hasn't proved himself as if you are relishing under the fact that he has been playing poorly this year?

Were you so eager to watch him fail before ? Because it certainly sounds like it.

    exactly.
it seems people don't examine the reality of the situation in every case and like to conjure up fantasies when it comes to the matter.

What is the best answer to the problems? Winning, as someone already said it.

Who's been winning and what has their style/ demeanor been regarding the issue at hand. (more than one team)

You have yourself a raw sample of data far more concrete than any hypothetical bs some internet ameture seems to post.
