So Morey is fed up and just decides to throw out a max, poison pill type contract amnesty Scola or Martin if you have to to make the dollars work and the no one else matches.

    Who would you rather have?

Hibbert for sure that way it allows Dmo to play his natural position as a 4

    McGee

I just think he has insane upside under the right mentor.

It might be wrong of me to say this, but I just don't think Hibbert is a difference maker. He's more of a 'good' role player.

McGee is definitely not a 'difference maker'

So of the 3 options, I'd have to go for Eric Gordon --> a guy who can make his own shot and create for others and carry a team offensively while still being a defensive presence.

But then again we really really need a center...

TO get better? Hibbert, even though he doesn't want to play in Houston.

To have the most disappointing season? Eric Gordan

To lose more games and get a better draft pick while still having potential in a player? McGee

I'd say McGee. Young with upside and McHale could coach him up well IMO.

Is Asik any good? I haven't hear much about him, all I know is that in NBA 2k12 he is rated about a 56

McGee, though I'd be worried we wouldn't get the best of him...as he needs strong coaching and veteran teammates, much like J.Hill apparently does (and didn't get it here).

Gordon is a walking injury. Nice player, but I'd never pay a guy who's status is that uncertain, that much. Plus, he's not exactly versatile at that.

Hibbert would be a quality pickup but he's a lumbering C, and when you have a guy like that, you have to mold your team around him, or he won't be able to keep up. And simply put, he's not good enough to mold your team around.

The CBA doesn't allow you to back load a contract in that manner.
Assuming that you don't have any type of Bird rights on Asik, then the maximum raise or reduction in salary from year to year of a contract is 4.5%. If you had Bird Rights (or early Bird) then it would be a max of 7.5%.

Harden won't be a FA until next year. IMO you go for McGee or Hibbert now, trade Lowry and both 1st rounders to the Blazers for #6 and get Beal/Lamb/Barnes.

Next season you amnesty Scola and let Martin walk. Then sign Harden.

(Of course in my world we would tank like a mofo and add Shabazz Muhammad to the aforementioned core and dominate for a decade);)

Throw a max at EG. Trade your picks and a player to go up and get sullinger.

I think that's good value for Asik.

So, if we give him that offer sheet, what does that do to Chicago's cap and tax situation if they match?

Indy is a winning team and has a ton of capspace.
Denver is a winning team and has a ton of capspace.
NO just traded probably the best player in franchise history for a package headed by Gordon.

Odds that any of those team let them go? ZERO.

Carl Herrera mentioned the only quality RFA that may have a chance of leaving his current team, Asik. Otherwise, probably better to wait til 2013 when the new tax rules come into place.
