If OKC had put Westbrook instead of Harden on the market 2 years ago...

...how much would you have paid to get him if you were the Rockets GM?

I'm trying to think about what OKC would've gotten for Westbrook on the market had they chosen Harden to stay. I think they would've gotten a lot. And I think Morey would've offered a lot. Something like this may have been a possible Rockets package.

    Everything in the Harden package
    Parsons
    Jones
2 #1s from us, not protected

And what's shocking is that I don't even think that would be enough to get Westbrook.

They would not have given up Westbrook, especially not for that little.
Westbrook is a top 2 PG and always has been ever since Rose died, I think even during the Harden trade OKC knew that.
They just didn't anticipate Harden being the #1 SG. :)

he'd just come off an all nba 2nd team season, so yeah they would have gotten a fair bit more, we likely wouldn't have had a good enough package.

Westbrook would cost any team quite a bit , dude got a lil Mamba in him like Kobe said. I bet he even attacks the rim in his dreams.

If I was Miami, I would trade LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and the #1.

Even that I don't think would enough.

Add Pat Riley and it would be sufficient.

The Spurs could offer to swap the whole roster plus Pop, but I don't think it with be enough.

If I was Rockets GM, I wouldn't trade for Westbrook period. However, if the Thunder had put Westbrook on the market, they could have probably landed CP3 because there was rumors the Hornets would have done that deal. It's very likely if they had moved Westbrook the Thunder would have a championship by now even if the owner was still a cheapskate and had moved Harden. Unfortunately for them, they squandered their window by backing the wrong guy so within 3 or 4 years they'll be the Milwaukee Bucks.

Westbrook and Perkins for Dwight Howard was the market I think.

Damn, if they could have had Harden, Dwight, and Durant that would have been at least a couple championships.

Yet Harden/Dwight can't last 6 games in the first round.

It's funny how championships aren't won on paper my friend.

It was their first season together, don't write them off just yet.

Heh, first of all, they did last 6 games, secondly it was their first year together, finally, are you actually comparing Harden/Dwight to Harden/Dwight/Durant? You don't see how adding arguably the best player in the league to the mix might have lead to a competitive advantage?

    Wait, its not arguable.
He's second best; that's pretty much the consensus from experts everywhere. The MVP just means he put up the best stats, doesn't necessarily mean he's the best player.

Well it IS arguable because he won the MVP, but I certainly wouldn't consider him the best.

If we got Westbrook we wouldn't've needed Lin. Lin + Martin and sacrifice a lamb.

Of course it would. But an automatic couple of championships? That's just hard to say.

Would have been quite a lot. People didn't know how good Harden was then, so his value wasn't quite as high, but everybody knew Westbrook was a stud. Not sure the Rockets would have had enough.

Another interesting question is what would Westbrook's value be if he was drafted after Harden and forced into a 6th man role? And what would Harden's have been if he was able to start rather than come off the bench?
