You misspelled Chauncey Billups. He led that team.

If people say Rondo and Harden wont work what makes you think Melo and Harden will ...

Exactly. People here are failing to realize that Melo/Harden/Dwight could be absolutely dominant with the right mindset and pieces around them.

New York doesn't have the luxury of rebuilding in any conventional way -- they went all in, sacrificing their future draft stock considerably.

They owe the Nuggets their first round pick this year -- fully unprotected pick. The Nuggets also have the right to swap picks with the Knicks in 2016, and whatever pick NYK gets back that year goes to Toronto (in the Bargnani deal). They owe the Rockets their second round pick this year and next year for Marcus Camby.

    If Carmelo leaves, well...

Melo can shoot and doesn't need to handle the ball in the backcourt to be effective. Come on.

I would trade Harden for Melo straight up, assuming Melo wouldn't mind playing with Lin. Melo at the 4 is pretty much unstoppable. Someone said it already, but he might be the best smallball 4 in the L.

But I'm pretty sure that Lin wasn't resigned by the Knicks, because Melo didn't want him there. Lin is the only guy who Dolan has refused to pay, and they went on the NYC character assassination media blitz against Lin, something Iman is going through a bit now.

It makes no sense talent wise, cap wise, roster wise, or business wise that Lin wasn't resigned. It makes 100% sense to me, if Melo let it known he didn't want Lin there. Melo's jealousy was so transparent, with him trying to take credit for suggestion that Lin should play to comments about Lin's contract offer.

But if we could magically wipe all that away (we can't), then a lineup of Lin, Bev, Parsons, Melo, Dwight would be better than the current starting 5.

The difference would be that while Melo is ball dominant, he doesn't initiate the offense and plays well off the ball.

He doesn't want to bring the ball up. He either wants an open look for an open jump shot, or he wants to pound the ball inside and play bully ball. And unlike Rondo, he can stretch the floor as well as post up.

In the Melo/Harden scenario, Harden would be the PG, the 1 would be either a combo guard or 3 and D, and Melo would play either the 3 or 4.

Yes, it could hurt ball movement, but it wouldn't throw Harden out of his rhythm since Harden will pretty much be facilitating far more than Melo.

Melo could've convinced The NYK ownership to offer Lin an offer to keep him. He wanted JR Smith and Felton instead and thats what he got.

    Yuck.

A selfish player whose stats dont translate into wins for the team. One of the greatest chuckers the league has ever produced.

A dumb dude as well. LOL @ him being in the league for ages and still fouling Dwight with less than 2 minutes in the game. Made several other bone headed plays while in Denver too.

    Stay away!

Yeah wouldn't be surprised either way. My inclination for it would be Melo's people pushing the deal further than it would go otherwise.

I think with Thompson & Barnes involved, you really dont need to have draft picks. That gives the Knicks the opportunity to be a playoff team with Chandler, Lee, Barnes, Thompson & whoever else. obviously not a contender, but they would probably jump at this deal ironically just like Denver did with Melo the first time around if they thought he was leaving.

I think it would be a good deal for the Knicks... GS... its star power of course but its a risky deal given how well they are playing.

However... star power sells. GS and their ownership know this, and wouldn't hang up the phone that's for sure.

You literally have zero knowledge of the inner workings of the New York Knicks, so I'm not sure how you're backing that claim up.

So is Miami, Lakers, Clippers, ect. But veteran players always sign there for below market value. You just don't have that with the Knicks despite them being in a major market.

If we have had Melo and not Harden, I doubt Howard would have signed with us.
