If LeBron James is so great, why does he have to change teams and stack the deck with superstars

If you are an elite player who doesn't have another elite player on your team, you are still likely to face several teams that do have multiple elite players. It's a result of having an individual max salary, permitting a team to fit multiple max guys under the cap. This kind of odds would be hard, though not impossible, to overcome.

I think the most recent example would be the 2011 Mavs. Sure they had former Allstars, but only Dirk was one that year. Dirk was also their only All NBA player (2nd team). Tyson Chandler was All Defensive 2nd Team also.

Once they realized how hurt IT was they should have canceled the trade. I think James was against that trade from the start.

Word is, the draft pick was just too enticing.

people want lebron to be the only ATG without a stacked team.

they don't want him to win a ring as a bench player like kobe.

He just picks his next ****ing destination it kind of defeats the purpose of striving to be great and winning rings when you’re taking short cuts.

It’s not supposed to be easy, that’s the pointX

You can't win rings by yourself. No one did it not mj, kareem, wilt etc. If you have good GM maybe they go and get players. If you are Lebron you make your own path.

I understand that part, but if your plan is to ginpiggy back elsewhere whenever the going gets tough that’s not exactly fighting to win a chip. It discredits what every other star in the league like harden has been doing. If it’s a shitty situation I can understand it but LeBron likes to hop elsewhere just because it’s not perfect for him. OP is right.

And Lebron won 2 in 4 years when his old team went from Finals favorites to lottery. Then he came back took his old team to be finals favorites and won 1 in 3 years against the 73 Win Warriors. LeBron is an all time great and the best SF of all time.

Gtfo here. His second best player on that Cavs team before he left was either Mo Williams or a 33 year old Antawn Jamison. In other words he had ZERO help. And to make matters worse he was doing well enough and leading the Cavs deep into the playoffs every year so it’s not like they had some high picks coming in. He could’ve waited for another superstar FA to sign and play with him but then YOU would complain that he had help from another superstar.

Why wouldn’t he go play in Miami with his best friend and win rings instead of being the only 1 in Cleveland, busting ass year in and year out and coming up short cause of no help? The way he feels right about now he’s probably having flashbacks to when he left the Cavs the first time.

Harden has a good GM. Just a few years ago he was 41-41 and he still had pretty good numbers. So Lebron should just sit around and wait for some other person for his success?

So did the heat just become a really bad GM led team all of a sudden? Besides ...he Is the GM man. All personnel moves go through him, he got blatt fired, got the Cavs to trade their picks, got his own guys paid and ultimately pushed Kyrie away. Those are basically the arguments used to prop him up as MVP (team bad, no coach etc) until people realize he is complicit in the team moves.

Yea I think the GM he should be blaming is himself. I like a Lebron, he’s as good of a model athlete as they Come but come on...

Mostly because he's played most of his career on one of the most shittily run franchises in the league. You can't win on your own, and the Cavs have done a terrible job of surrounding him with great teammates. The best team he was on in Cleveland was due to trades he had to orchestrate himself.

All of the other best players in league history were all on teams that did a good job of surrounding them with others HOFers.

Also, in the last couple of season you have the GS affect, which we have never seen before. The best RS team in league history adding the 2nd best player in the league. We've never seen this amount of talent on one team before, so the only chance of beating them is to assemble another crazy super team.

He was against trading Kyrie for IT. His GM powers were removed this year. Previously The Cavs went to 3 finals and won a ring. That is more success than 28 teams in the NBA. The TT and JR contracts were terrible and that is on him.

Andre Iguodala is Finals MVP over LeBron, Kawhi Leonard is Finals MVP over Lebron, Dirk Nowitzki is Finals MVP over LeBron, Tim Duncan is Finals MVP over LeBron. LeBron is overrated, why because he joins super teams. He can't or won"t try to recruit. He is not friendly to other Players, always unwanted attention.

James Harden is the #1 player in the NBA, Harden just needs to win Championships. Media is overrating LeBron and there are allegations of LeBron being on steroids. I think he started steroids since his 2nd year, he was so skinny as a rookie, started losing hair, his jaw line has huge bump, like Dwayne Wade.

Think of Lebron like a quarterback and a head coach. He needs to have the right wide receivers and right offensive line and supporting cast. He needs to reshuffle the deck every 4 years because his cast grows old and they aren’t the same. Is dez Bryant the same player now that he was 4 years ago? No right?? So you gotta reshuffle and get a new WR who can catch ur passes.

The only teams that Lebron took down in the East that I give him credit for are:
    1. 2011 Celtics, even if it was the year after their chip
    2. 2011 Chicago
    3. 2012 Indiana w/ PG

That's everything. Otherwise, he's never had a real challenge getting to the finals. AND he lost the NBA Finals in 2011, to the Mavs no less.

He's got huge asterisks in his playoff career. To be honest, I have a hard time seeing how LBJ was better than Kobe. He better get on it to get more rings than the other guys on the top-10 list.
