If Lakers fans can forgive Kobe for quitting, why can't we forgive Harden for quitting?

Should we forgive Harden for quitting on us?

  1. No, I have grown to HATE JAMES FRAUDEN.

  2. Yes, only when he brings us a championship.

Let it rest. We have been watching him for 5 years now. We know who he is.

Isiah Thomas always says Jordan wasnt that good in the 80s when he had to do a lot on his own. Since your comparison is Kobe, that's a pretty good category to be in. We are fortunate to have him.

Kobe did quit in that game and got a lot of heat for it at the time. But he had also helped the Lakers win 3 straight titles prior to that and got them to another Finals a couple years later. His legacy was secure even without the additional 2 titles he won after the Gasol trade. Plus even within that series, the Lakers were only up 3-1 over the Suns in the first place because of his heroics at the end of Game 4.

Harden meanwhile had several bad games in the Spurs series in addition to the Game 6 no-show. He's never won a title. He's only been to the Finals once in his career(and that was as the sixth man with the Thunder). And he's only won 3 playoff series with the Rockets(and knocking off the Clippers was thanks more to his teammates).

That could have been said when Jordan was 28. Though, you can't say Jordan was quitting on anybody, but his team was going nowhere.

OP is a Mavs fan and all, probably the worst poster here along with larsv8, derpwah etc but Harden quit on the Rockets in Game 6. That is disrespect to the franchise, to all rockets fans, to the city of Houston a nd to himself. Let's not forget that he QUIT on US!!!

Dirk Nowitzki, 2007 Western Conference quarterfinals, Game 6
    Stats: 8 points, 10 rebounds, 2 assists 2-13 fgs, 0-6 3fgs

Nowitzki had an MVP regular season, leading the Mavericks to the best record in the league, and it appeared Dallas would be a formidable team in the playoffs. But the eighth-seeded Warriors had other plans, pulling off one of the biggest stunners in NBA playoff history, and Nowitzki was barely a factor in a must-win game for Dallas. Golden State’s smaller and quicker lineup frustrated Nowitzki, who got to the free-throw line just four times despite playing 39 minutes.

Harden will be forgiven. He just needs to find a way to preserve his physical and mental strength in the playoffs. The addition of Chris Paul alleviates the need for Harden to be the leader in ways other than example. Chris Paul is probably one of the greats in playoff focus and his stats prove it. It's nice that CP3 actually has offense and defense too.

Hopefully, Melo joins in on the party, and now we have a team that stretches the floor immensely from every position (including improving from every spot taken) except the center position. Harden sees more space, which will open up the slash or fake-and-go, which will then force the defender to give cushion which will ultimately open up the 3 ball for him.

Last year opponents could just shift defensively to hug the 3 point line more often (Spurs) and would sag to help with Harden. They can't do that with Capela, Melo, Ariza, Harden, CP3, and EGo. With exception to Capela, all those guys can hit the 3 consistently, hit the midrange better than last years squad, and their ISO games are legit to superstar.

Even without Melo, we're still better equipped to take pressure for Harden to be the sole playmaker. He hopefully responds by being more efficient in the playoffs.
