Is it possible to trade for a defensive assistant coach? We could trade for the All NBA defense 1st team but without a coach and system there's no point. Side note since we're talking about trades: I also feel like we need a rebounding big to backup or play alongside capela.
Did Codman mention him a month ago? Yes, I know "Man of Steel" is a Superman reference, but I doubt this quote was about Dwight (Powell)... Spoiler: Wes Matthews / Iron Man steel /stēl/ noun a hard, strong, gray or bluish-gray alloy of iron with carbon and usually other elements, used extensively as a structural and fabricating material.

I think we need someone who at least resembles Trev/Luc. We had the right formula last year. Ennis is a grinder but does not move his feet well, and gambles alot. He lacks the fundamental awareness, smarts and technique that Trev/Luc brought to the table. So i want a Trev/Luc clone sort of speak. Those 7ft to 7'2 inch wing spans were crucial. They had the length to effectively close out to and contest 3 point shots on switches,as well as the footwork to quickly recover if someone pump faked and tried to attack the closeout. I need length, smarts, toughness, and 3 point shooting for this clone. If you are talking about not giving up much as in PJ and EG, then the list is small. Bazemore does not quite fit the height profile but he has length with a 7ft wingspan. Aggressive defender, not as smart as i would like but he upgrades the team at the wing and could work in this system. Batum fits the height and length profile, and he has the smarts, but his contract makes him unlikely, unless we get really desperate. Oubre has the height (6'7) and wingspan(7'3) shot 40% from 3, athletic and can finish at the rim. Not sure if has gotten over his depression issues, which have effected his effort/motor in the past. Maybe playing with a veteran team thats playing for a ring could help him in this regard. I just don't if we could offer a good enough package to get him. His ceiling is still very high, though i question his toughness. Carroll i believe is the closest we can get to an attainable clone. His wingspan is 6'10 but he hits the other measurables. He is a plus defender who moves his feet well and doesnt mind doing the dirty work.He shoots the 3 at over 37% in recent years. Decent rebounder as well. Rugged enough to handle 4's. Not a playmaker unfortunately, but neither were Trev or Luc. I just dont know who else is realistic that has the defense, length, IQ, and 3 point shooting that we NEED. If we are not parting with PJ or EG, i could live with any of the above as our starting 3. Not sexy but serviceable.
Demarre Carroll. I wouldn't mind taking a look at Larry Sanders if we end up trading Chriss next week.
DM only makes 15mil/yr. Knight alone would fulfill the salary requirements, but i'm sure the Nets want more.
Demarre Carroll, James Johnson, Aminu, or MKG in that order. I think we need more stretch 4s that can still guard the perimeter. MKG is the exception. He's more of a poor man's Andre Roberson on a worse contract and that's why he's last on my list. MKG's contract is more preferable than Batum's in my opinion.
