    8-10 wins more & here's why.

    1. fouling Howard as soon as we get the ball takes us out of our offensive flow & he'll get 0 or 1 point instead of 2.
    2. fouling Howard, while going for a rebound under the basket, means that he'll get 0 or 1 point instead of 2.
    3. fouling Howard gets under his skin & takes him away from his game.

Teams would respond by playing the Rockets differently if that happened. The hack-a-Howard strategy would be consigned to the waste-basket of history.

Howard would win MVP if he could hit free throws.

Howard hitting free-throws would mean we could basically force feed him 20-30 touches a game. If the opposing team doesn't foul, he would most likely get a layup or a dunk. If he's fouled, then it's two easy points from the FT line for him.

Howard was 3-7 from the line.

So, yes, technically, if he went 7-7, we would have won the game. Are you really blaming that game on his 4 missed fts though?

I have yet to see/remember a marquee game, besides that Portland game, that we have lost because of the ft problem from Dwight.

Instead of looking at the season numbers, the ft stats have to be taken in a game-by-game situation. Would we have actually won if Dwight had just made a respectable amount of fts?

People just can't understand this.... it's a mental block. Nothing about it is physical. It's the same reason Tiger Woods game has fallen off so badly. Most times the more you stress about it the worst it gets.

No he stills turns the ball over too much. He needs to focus on defense and score off easy opportunities like rebounds and give and gos, ally opps.

He should honestly just aim for the backboard. Pretty sure his rate would go up

There are times when he gets pulled and there are plays we don't run because he is a poor foul shooter.

I've had this in my mind for so long. Lebron went to one after losing to Dallas in the finals and came back and dominated the NBA. I think it should be something that Morey seriously considers. Its no reason why dwight should be that bad in the game shooting FT's It really hurts our team....CAn someone email morey?

It would totally change the way people defended him. As it stands now, smaller players will simply jump on his back or hack the crap out of him. Larger players may push him in the chest area or hack him. And the messed up part is, probably > 50% of the time no foul is called. Hit those free throws at 60-70% and people won't foul you on purpose as often.

    Less free throws, more jumpers.

To me, the whole thread is irrelevant. It's like asking "how much better would B-Bob's rec league team be if he could start dunking." I can't dunk (anymore). It just won't happen, no matter how hard I worked on it.

Same is true for people like Dwight. It's not in his talent range to improve his FT % more than a handful of % points. Shaq. DeAndre Jordan. Dwight. Wilt. These guys that cannot shoot (in any context) from 15 feet just won't get much better at free throws.

People like Smoove, however, who can hit a 3-pointer? Those guys can definitely improve at FT shooting with practice.

Which game this playoffs did we lose because he was a poor foul shooter?

We don't give the ball to Dwight in the post normally in the 4th quarter. Not running those plays are inconsequential, and there has not been any fouling on screens (yet).

Yup, one that specify's in practicing mindfulness and possibly neurofeedback/biofeedback. One of Phil Jackson's right hand men and still is in NY is George Mumford. MJ swore by this and helped him achieve an even higher level of concentration on the court.
