why not extend the qo then? as most expected? Just because? Their 5/80 is still on the table. So you think they will max him NEXT summer? When the max is even more? Than near max him this summer? They need to pony up for Mozgov too btw.
John Henson just got 11.25 / year for 7.9 and 4.7 rebs per game..... Personally, i wouldnt touch anyone with those numbers, but its a different game now.
Actually no I don't. I think they are putting the screws to TT. I think Paul is undermining him for the sake of Lebron and the Cavs. I think TT should fire Paul and sign a deal at 5/85. And I think if TT fired Paul, the whole scenario would change with Cleveland.
I really hope hope his situation sours to the point he has no other choice but to come to Houston. That would be an amazing replacement for Josh Smith.
I don't see Cleveland giving him the max either not when they signed KLove to a max deal. The moment they inked that deal with him, TT was headed to FA for his max deal.
Cavs have removed anything having to do with Tristian Thompson in their arena or team store according to BleacherReport
but thomspon aint getting a max deal from any other team other than the cavs, dude can shot free-throws, has no post game, and is an overrated rim protector
Many of us saw this. I was surprised the Cavs offered him what they did. Not surprising. The bridge is on fire. Rich Paul led his client straight into a brick wall.
The longer this goes the more it plays into the Cavs hands. TT has to play this season not to repeat this episode next summer. If he sits out a season, his value goes down...not up. Nobody is going to give him more $$ next summer after he has sat out a whole season. So this whole things plays into the Cavs hands. They really don't need TT as long as Love and Mozgov stay healthy until the playoffs. So they can afford to sit on any negotiations until around the trade deadline and then offer him around $3-4 million to play out the balance of the season so he can be unrestricted next summer. This would realistically save them around $50 million over the cost of paying him a max salary plus all the extra luxury tax they'd have to pay this season if they sign him to a max or near max deal. Rich Paul knows this. Rich Paul knows he's not going to get a better deal from the Cavs later. Rich Paul knows the Cavs can save $50 million by withdrawing all offers and forcing TT to sign a low $$ contract now. Rich Paul knows his clients wants to go to Toronto if he leaves Cleveland. Rich Paul also knows that CLE and TOR have the wherewithal to execute a sign-and-trade after Dec. 15th also. Rich Paul is the person that is preventing a deal from being made for his client. TT should fire him.
