All these other knee jerk threads about missing Trevor, missing Landry, missing Lowry are all off the mark.

What this team needs more than anything else is a giant 7'6" high efficency center.

Yao forces teams to settle for jumpers just by being in the paint, he can guard centers one on one....and he changes the game on offense and opens it up for everyone else.

I know we are all a little dissapointed tonight, but let's take some time to realize that without the big fella, we are not really going to win very many games.

Get healthy Yao, and come back next year ready to dominate !

Question: if yao clogs up the lane, how does kevin martin draw fouls?

or is he relegated to an outside shooter? (kevin martin that is)

Yes the departure of Yao is obvious...

But Lowry and Ariza help this team a lot. I just miss team basketball...

Yao can shoot from the high post, and open up the lane......I expect him to play more on the elbow this year.

Ok what's more important between Yao in the middle and Martin drawing fouls, shooting 7-8 FT, making 5-6?

    word.

yao is the most important to our success and what we need the most

    not lowry (like him tho)

not ariza (like him playing SMALL FORWARD)

but yaos interior presence and ability to draw in extra defenders is by far the most valuable asset we dont have right now.

Even after the trade, Yao Ming is still my favorite current Rocket...a great player when healthy, and an even better person. How can someone who played all 82 games his first two (or was it three?) seasons get hurt so darn much?

Even if he's limited to "merely" 15 points and 8 rebounds a game next year, I'll be happy. It's always comforting to know a 7'6" backstop is there should your man get through...

We can really make a push next season with Yao back. Especially if Morey works some magic in the offseason.

honestly, i dont even feel like yao is apart of the team anymore. even when he returns it seems its only a matter of time before he is seriously injured again.

A big man inside is crucial to grab the boards...otherwise we could do nothing but let their big mans dominate our court...

I hope his foot is going to be alright. It worries me a bit that we don't hear more news on his status...like they're afraid to tell us that it isn't healing as well as it should :(. He's had the boot off for well over a month hasn't he? But no recent news on rehab or if he's simply walking fine without pain...etc. Meh, maybe I'm just anxious to hear somethin...
