You're an NBA GM building a roster. On your roster, you'd prefer to have:

  1. Clint Capela

  2. Jeff Withey

Heh. Don't let me ruin the joke, but there's that whole abstinence thing in Mormon culture. Aaand I'm tuning out of this line of discussion. ;)

Fun fact, I am Mormon myself (pretty coincidentally, I was born and raised in Houston.)

I remember being at all of the home games of the Rockets-Jazz series in '07. The row behind me was chanting "Mormons suck!" And they got a big kick out of it when I said I'm Mormon and hate the Jazz.

Anyway, if you want my actual answer to your question:
Polygamy hasn't existed in the mainstream church since the 1800's. Wikipedia will tell you that it was "practiced from 1852 to 1890 by between 20 and 30 percent of Latter-day Saint families". Most of the newsworthy kooks you've heard of doing polygamy over the past couple of decades are one-off guys who take over a small remote town and claim they're a prophet. Unfortunately you don't have to be Mormon to get a crazy extremist every once in a while.

The LDS church today will actually ex-communicate people who practice polygamy.

Mormons are quite normal people. I attended a massive high school and have played in punk rock bands since then. When I reveal that I'm Mormon people seem to wonder how I can be a normal human so well. Well, I guess it's because many people's only exposure to Mormons is South Park and Family Guy. ;)

Clint best C we’v had since the great Yao Ming. Damn I miss Yao. What a great player he was and the most underrated aspect to his game was his ability to alter shot after shot.

Oh, another fun fact. This pro-Withey guy on the other end of the conversation is a hipster originally from Chicago. ;) We bustin' stereotypes.

Good thread to knee jerk revisit the next time Capela has a mediocre game or gets in foul trouble.

Clint has the intangibles that no one else has... his willingness to learn, develop, and stay within his abilities untill he masters it. So, his ceiling is high. And remember, Olajuwon also started as a soccer player... hence clint's lightning fast feet.

Irrefutable. Withey is the center of the modern NBA.

I googled it to see what was up and I got a picture of Walter White from breaking bad. Are you trying to say Jeff is really low key Walter White?

I bet those fans are surprised that Capela outplayed Gobert. I was optimistic that Clint would step up to the challenge against him.

Adams probably would have been another story.

I hope Clint will keep up the good work. I would like to see him box out more on the defensive boards, so Gobert can't fly in to get dunks easily.

The excuse going around is the lack of rest after game 6 with the Thunder. I was shocked to see one of our own members start a thread on that too.

I used to have a fear of Gobert against the Rockets; tonight he seemed soft.

Capela was once soft but like all of his traits, he keeps working on it.

Capela used to get overwhelmed by Gobert, but he has played well against him in the regular season. Clint doesn't back down once he gains confidence, same story with KAT.
Clint doesn't play well at all, if someone is big and physical. Adams works hard too. That's why last season's Nene was the man for us against OKC.

Adams is one of the few bigs I'd trade Capela for.
