This. One of the most annoying things about reddit is that certain memes which just sound like a whiny 14 year old embellishing stuff get traction and noone calls them out on the bs. Some stuff that would take two posts before "pics or gtfo" on CF is accepted as truth and generates 1000+ comments. It's eye rolling worthy sometimes.
I like going to TIL http://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/ You must take it with a grain of salt - not everything on the internet is true. But there's a LOT of a amazing stuff there. It's great for a daily discovery or refreshing learning.
If you like reddit, check out imgur.com, lots of funny pictures and you can thumb through them quickly.
useful subreddits www.reddit.com/r/LifeProTips/ www.reddit.com/r/buyitforlife www.reddit.com/r/frugalmalefashion Whatever hobby you are into there is a subreddit, some are better than others.
Ive been to reddit maybe 5-7 times. For sure its is not 4chan. But it has that same "I'm a nobody in real life but relevant on the net" in an immature tone that can get nauseating. And like the early ebaumworld theres some "make jokes about macabre events" desensitized tone. But maybe I went to the wrong areas Really to me most general topics/news sites are like that though, even the woman and "mom" sites. Its posts meant to be informative, but with the suspicious sense attention whoring doing it for ad clicks and it turns into a whiney circle jerk anyway.
One of the other great things about Reddit are the AMAs. You can learn a lot about a culture, group, job or individual reading through an AMA (from p*rn producers, cat burglars, frisbee players to movie stars, scientists and politicians). So many interesting jobs and experiences...
reddit is good because of the amount of users and how there is a subreddit for everything. The layout sucks though
While there is lots of information about random things. Mostly it is teenage circle-jerk of memes and groupthink politics. I do like that there is a subreddit for pretty much everything from boardgames to fitness and plenty of DIY stuff. That being said the layout of the site is a huge eyesore.
Ebaumsworld used to be awesome back in the day. I remember when some user named "Bearfat" trolled the entire forum. He said he knew who Brian Peppers was and had a couple of conversations on the phone with him. He also talked about how he and his friend were going to make a trip over to Brian Pepper's house. It turns out it was a huge troll prank, it wasnt real. I remember being so dissapointed. I dont frequent Ebaumsworld anymore. It's kinda gone to ****e. It's really not the same anymore. Some of the most funniest/deranged/racist/anti-social people used to post there. I hate it but I loved it at the same time...
NBA subreddit is not bad. I believe even some of the NBA Dish threads on Clutchfans come from the nba sub reddit threads. Wish some members here can give credit where credit is due - bugs the hell outta me.
I usually just browse r/all for a few pages but some specific subreddits that I enjoy are: r/buildapcsales (currently shopping for monitor deals) r/foodporn (to torture myself) r/gonewild (of course) r/fullmoviesonyoutube
Here are the subreddits I like that others might like too askscience askhistorians doctorwho iama rockets astros texans upliftingnews startrek stargate And like was said earlier...any hobby you may have, you will probably find a subreddit for it. For example, my little brother is really into firearms, and he likes /r/guns.
Is there a Clutchfans subreddit on Reddit? That would be pretty awesome. I could then post about posting.
