All the steals, hustle, defense, and threes tonight! His energy tonight is really inspiring the rest of the team. He is looking like the Corey Brewer of last year! GOOD DEFENSE LEADS TO GOOD OFFENSE.
Brewer reminds me of a counter-puncher in boxing. Once he gets the timing of another team down his gambles start to pay off. If the Rockets are playing poor defense as a team, the opponent can focus on brewer and take advantage - faking passes to get him going the wrong way. If the Rockets are playing good defense (tonight and a lot of last year) they have to shift their attention to players other than brewer and he can time the passes. just a thought. maybe it's a fluke or maybe he's Progressing to the Mean.
Last year I coached my daughter's team. We had this one player who was really energetic and athletic but took ridiculous risks on defense and got hosed repeatedly. Not until the last game of the season did I realize that instead of trying to make her a good on-ball defender, I should move her off the ball, where her style fit perfectly. Voila -- steals and no more hosing.
he's always who he is and always does what he does. he just looked better than who he is in a better defense last yr, and has been looking worse than who he is in a much worse defense.
He seems like a genuinely good guy, but he's been awful this season. Hopefully he turns it around. He's not over the hill. He's just trying to do too much out there. He's got a few things he excels at. Everything else he should leave to others.
Morey and the general CF base lusted and pursued Brewer for 2 years before we got him. Coach him into a fine tuned role and he does positive stuff. 3 steals and 4 charges tonight. 7 of NOLA's TO's should be tagged 'Brew'.
