The man is old enough to be some peoples' dads on this board. We all knew what we were getting out of the buy out. As long as he is ready when the playoffs come. He probably hasn't played much since last years playoffs so he is probably rusty. From my own personal experience the older you get the harder it is to get going again.
We need him for defense Montrez was killing us, Joe shut him down He’s our best big man post defender What you want Ryan Anderson or Harden guarding Alderige again ?
Gerald should be getting some of Joes minutes, it’s ridiculous that MDA just took him out of the rotation, dude is a walking bucket.
Huh? He's playing fine, he's not going to be playing much at all come playoffs. He had a pretty big 3 there during the game. I think people overreacted on this signing even though it was a good buyout sign.
Lol the comical low standard he is held to. He hit a single wide open shot, one 90% of the NBA could be counted on to make, and he missed several other easy looks generated by far better players. He brought literally nothing all game. So much so, his one or two noteworthy plays prop him up into comical status. Someone even said he's their best post defender because of one possession(I didn't even see that btw). That he is going to seriously get more, and more meaningful(against starters) playing time than Luc Mbah a Moute is the biggest indictment on D'antoni ever. Even if Joe Johnson was an average player(he isn't), him getting minutes over Luc, who we have only been able to play decent defense with all year, is an outrage.
Joe needs to play as much as possible to get ready for the playoffs. GG might get us some points but the Rockets with JJ clicking is even scarier. Like Anderson, Joe isn't good enough were a bad game will affect the Rockets, but he can make the Rockets hot lava if he is on Rockets fans, JJ haters need to look at the big picture. GG doesn't have the potential to ISO, pass, and guard Power forwards. Let JJ get comfortable.
I'm not as down on Joe as you, but I think it's very safe to assume that Joe won't be getting more minutes than Luc come playoff time. Playing him more now allows him to get his legs under him and get acclimated to the team while allowing guys like Ariza and Luc some rest. It'll be ok, my friend.
on the bright side if Joe Johnson plays, more important players will play less and therefore have less chance of getting injured in the playoffs
