I got in a big car accident, but don't have the idiot's insurance info.

    That's a funny story! Your last point is what the OP should get out of this thread, if nothing else. And he should go see a doctor or medical specialist of some kind, and get checked out. Problems can crop up from this sort of accident and they often show up later. No joke! You shouldn't take any chances.

    When the other party is clearly liable, you have "nothing to lose and all to gain" by contacting your insurance company. You are both on the same side.

    NEVER EVER handle it yourself by calling the other insurance. It won't help you in any way whatsoever and "whatever you say can and will be used against you". Seriously!

    If you and another person were battling each other in court over something, would you contact their attorney directly? Same reasoning applies here.

    Police report on my accident took over 2 weeks to go through. Contact your insurance immediately.

    It's lengthy because when I t-boned him his car actually flipped to its side. I was driving around speed limit and our cars are of similar weight. The other insurance is claiming I was speeding and are trying to put 80-20% blame even though he ran a stop and I had clear right of away. It's a headache to be honest...

    Get a lawyer, like yesterday, and let him/her handle everything. My guess is that it won't cost you a dime.

    Contacted my insurance a while ago, now we are all waiting for the police report.

    However, a little dilemma. My car is in the towyard and racking up a huge bill - its already at nearly $1000. Should I just let it sit there until this whole thing gets taken care of, or should I pay the money to get it shipped out to a junk yard and then get reimbursed later.

    The other party is liable anyways, not me - so I don't really know what the best option is.

    Thoughts/advice?
