Did you see that time when Dwight Howard wanted no part of Tyson Chandler????

Chandler started grabbing and pulling his arms after the whistle blew & instead of standing up for himself, he turned and cried to the refs!!!!!!!!!!!

Asik's points came naturally?.. This makes no sense. It's great to have a center who can catch the ball and score in the post. Asik couldn't do that. You're saying it's better to have a center who can't score in the post? What did Asik do that Dwight didn't? Dwight can get the garbage put backs as well and that's where Asik thrived - but Dwight does it better and can actually catch passes.

Houston are 27-15, this time last season, they were 21-21

That is the value of Howard right there

Zach Lowe tweeted this graphic from @edkupfer (who by the way has all types of interesting stat graphics) showing the offensive and defensive efficiency of each team over time.

Please note the sharp drop off in defensive efficiency after Asik gets hurt. Not saying he's better overall than Dwight. But I think he's better defensively.

And if Jones can't play today, don't expect Howard to volunteer to guard LMA.

    Because he won't!!!!!!!

    Because he can't...... Lead feet!!!!!!!

Hasn't volunteered to take one tough defensive assignment all season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This team would without a doubt be better with Aldridge or Love instead of Howard. An Asik/Aldridge front court is better than Howard/Jones front court.

Howard gets enough stupid techs on stuff like that as it is. Other teams try to bait him because they know it works from time to time and he ends up getting tossed. I'm glad he didn't play that stupid ish.

You're right, dropped big time from the open of the season.

Blazers and Warriors are much more consistent than Houston this season in terms of defensive efficiency. I consider both of those teams in Houston's "contender" echelon in the West. Didn't realize there was that much of a gap.

Whoops; read that chart wrong. Blazers are similarly inconsistent as Houston. Have to imagine that will catch up with them in the post season, just like it will the Rockets.

    Rockets winning percentage

    2013 - 54.8%
    2014 - 64.2%

One is higher than the other.

You're right, let's go ahead and ignore the fact that the Rockets didn't switch from Howard to Asik, but rather Howard is a consistent and Asik got subbed out for a mix of Casspi and Dmo.

So it is DEFINITELY not a case we should be comparing Asik defensively to his replacements Casspi and Dmo, but rather let's compare him to Dwight.

Dwight's value comes from WAY better hands on the offensive end and the ability to actually draw double teams. Dwight hasn't been great at passing out of a double team (I'm thinking that will improve with Mchale/Dream), but he has been pretty solid 1v1 in the post.

Also all the idiotic talks about FT shooting, do none of you guys realize Asik shoots under 60% as well, so that is a complete wash.

No Asik is not better, and no we dont need Aldridge jacking up 25 shots to get his 25 pts

Ths only reason many fans might feel that way is because so far we have failed to build an offsense system to seamlessly integrate DH12 in.

Not to mention the discrepancy in their physical abilities, one is playing 35 min a game and one is refusing to play any minute.

You're probably right. Asik fits the offense better. But...what's done is done, Dwight is here and is going nowhere soon.
