Last year we took a family trip and was in New Orleans for a few days. We came across an artist who painted really nice pictures of ballerinas/ dancers. Problem was the canvas was huge and we were on our way back from Florida is it would have gotten messed up in the way home. At the time we had her name and she had a smaller website where she sold the exact painting we wanted and other similar ones. An iPhone in the ocean later and we have no way of finding her website. I keep trying different word combinations on Google but can never find her.

The dancers don't have faces of that makes sense. More like silhouettes.

Any idea how to find this wonderful artist?

Hmm that is tough. Your description nearly sounded like something by Degas in the French Impressionism style.

That's a list of art galleries in NO's FQ. Perhaps her name may jump at you? Maybe it's Giselle's Art Gallery?

Okay. Maybe I wasn't clear. Like this person sets up shop in the Frenxh Quarter and paints. People walk buy and buy them if they like. She had a huge canvas and it was 400-500 bucks. Beautiful art, but she wasnt famous.

You need to contact people in the NO art community and ask around, because its highly doubtful anyone here can help you.

10 years ago people told me to come here first before I looked elsewhere for the answers to my questions. 99 times out of 100 it has worked. It was worth a shot.

You said "popular artists" in your title, now you say she "wasn't famous." A "huge canvas" by nearly any artist (much less a "popular" one) will go for well over $1500 -- a "popular one" easily $5000 for huge canvas.

we aren't going to be able to help you find a street artist selling at that low of a price. It's like asking does anyone know who the artist is hanging at a specific Starbucks.

Now sure if this person is whom you're looking for, but her works are certainly wonderful!
