The Rockets need to learn how to go small. We also should've added better shooting wings. But I'm fine with bringing back the band

    Jones lol.

DMo lol. Has done nothing the playoffs. All of a sudden becomes the solution at PF? Cant rebound in regular season. People expect him to hold the fort in playoffs? We are trying to contend, not participate in the playoffs.

Which leaves Josh Smith. A backup PF like how was used last year sure. A permanent solution with heavy minutes? No.

Like I said, we have a hole at PF spot.

We need to pry away Patty Mills from the Spurs.

If we do get him this will be greater than the Spurs getting LMA. I feel Duncan is better playing at PF than the C position so it becomes a wash.

DMO didn't have a chance to show what he can do in PO thanks to McHale, not to DMO. Also defining players by one skill they don't have and ignoring all the good stuff they do and have makes you and ugly human being, who should switch to being Mavericks "fan".

Spurs: you beat them by running up and down the floor. We can overwhelm them with athleticism. Their depth is a bit shot from opening up space for Aldridge, and even if they get a West and a few other minimum players, most of their team is old. We just have to tore them out.

Warriors: this is where a DMo/Howard frontline really shines. DMo is quick enough to keep up with Dray on D while being skilled enough to finish over him on O. And now we have Bev who can at least make Curry work for his points a little bit. Getting a Collison or another PG that forces Curry to work on both ends of the floor is crucial for us to have a legitimate chance against them

2 teams who's strength, one recently and one in a dynasty, has come from keeping a roster together, with minor tweaks.

Pressing pause on the rotating door compliments our offensive style. Guys need time to know where guys are and work that chemistry in.

DMo is a different guy. Capella is different. Ariza Harden Brewer Howard Bev...That's a lot of Varsity getting to play again together after an injury riddled false start of a chance to gel. Who knows who else will stay or go or who will come, but the amount of guys locked back in really is the big monster in the room that no ones talking about. What are those teams going to do about that? Dubs never got a taste of Capt Hook and Mr 94 ft in that series.

Rockets desperately need a real PG. Bev is a backup PG but we need someone else.

The number one priority has to be staying healthy. Look across every playoff caliber team last season and what was on the one squad that had the fewest injury concerns of anybody? Golden State. If Morey can at least bring back Smith and add a quality veteran PG to improve the rotation with Beverley, I see no reason why this healthy Rockets squad can't compete with anybody in the league.

Are they better on paper than Golden State or San Antonio with this roster? Probably not. But there's just too many variables right now to consider. And Morey has always been very good at acquiring quality assets midseason. It's just way too early to rule out the Rockets from the Western Conference contender situation just because they didn't land Aldridge.

A trade will be made and hopefully we will be able to use the MLE on a new add, while still retaining Smith and McDaniel.

There is no hole at PF. In fact, it's one of our deepest positions. Jones was playing the best ball of his life before the nerve injury. Slowly got his rhythm back, then punctured a lung.

While Jones was out the first time, DMo stepped in and played so well that he had a 'holdt' on the starting position even if pre-nerve injury Jones returned. DMo has proven a very good post player. He finally showed that he can read options from the post and make the right decision. Check out his Sabonis-like passing. He will get even better.

If we sign Josh Smith again, he makes Jones or DMo expendable for a starting PG or quality backup PG. don't forget we added Montrezl as well. He played very well against good competition in college. Looks like Faried Lite.

PG and backup C were our most glaring needs. Capella looks more than capable of being the backup 5. We need a PG in the worst way. A PG with the skill set we need the most in general: playmaking ability and pure shooting. With Harden being the primary facilitator, the shooter needs to be a PG or SF. Great if you can find a big man with that skill.

It's early in the preseason. So Lamarcus did what was expected. Let's go get our guys back, then work the phones.

Spurs I'm not worried about. How do we beat golden state is the question.

So in addition to ruling out the Rockets, you're also ruling out a healthy OKC team with Durant and Westbrook? That's crazy. Also, you're not taking health or potential midseason deals into consideration.

Anytime somebody claims a postseason prediction is a lock months before the season begins, they have no freaking clue what they are talking about.

As much as. I don't like Jones because he's inconsistent, he's better than at least 10 starting PFs in the league. DMo is one of the biggest post threats in the NBA and Josh Smith singlehandedly saved us in the second round. We have no hole.

Against Golden State especially, this is a really good point. The one guy to watch in that regard this season will be Dekker. He has the size and athleticism to play small ball 4 in a pinch, but I'm curious to see how his shooting stroke translates to the NBA. If he can be a reliable 3-point shooter, I'd love to see him integrated into the rotation at both forward positions by the end of the season. That would be a huge asset to have against a team like the Warriors.

We need a less predictable offense- which will come with upgrades at the point and at the 4. Also, the West is really about matchups. We have to do well enough on the regular season (no losing close games etc.) to make sure we have HCA and to make sure we avoid running into the Spurs or GSW.

I think if this team is healthy, they can beat anyone, but that is a big if.

Right now, I think San Antonio, Golden State, Houston, and maybe OKC are in a totally different class from the rest of the west

Assuming all teams are healthy, if we don't get a quality starting PG, we're not going back to the WCF this season. Also, there's the question if we'll even get smith back.. he was huge for us in the playoffs.

OKC, Spurs, Warriors, and Grizzlies will all be tough for us.

And Bev locking down curry? Like he did when he was still healthy during regular season? He has more issues staying out of foul trouble than keeping up with Curry.

Let's hope Denver or Suns are willing to part ways with their PG, although, I don't see Suns doing that since they just picked up Tyson instead of going full rebuild.
