Bev is an overrated defender. He's an elite hustle player. His offense is improved and just what is needed when his 3 point shot is falling at a high clip. But his playmaking and pg skills are absolutely **** and it's hurting our team. With that being said... He's very replaceable and moreover, he should definitely be replaced.
I agree with the top three but most of the others wouldn't help us much. I'd throw Jrue Holiday's name on that list too. Particularly, if this season starts looking bad and the Pelicans want to reboot with Asik expiring.
Bev is a top 10 defensive guard in the league. For that, he isn't replaceable on the team. On the lineup however, he is very much so. Id rather see him come off the bench and provide a spark than be traded.
Um, not he's not. Just ask John Wall & Derrick Rose. Matter of fact, he's the best on the ball defender in the league. I can't even remember the last time a pg had a elite breakout game against us. 95% of the playmaking responsibilites for our team belong to James Harden. His role is not to make plays on this team. It's to hit open 3's and defend. Cryin about him not being a playmaker is like crying about Dwight not being a 3pt shooter
The Nuggets lost a lot of assets since his rookie year, and Lawson has slowly had to take over as a scoring option after people like Melo and Billups left the squad. He still hustles and I think he's averaging like 10 assists per game this season.
He'd probably want a left handed PG. Mike Conley or Brandon Jennings. No idea if gettable or desirable, but they are lefties.
Bev brings an attitude and intensity that is sorely needed. Much of the value he adds is hard to quantify with statistics. He is the heart of this team and I'd hate to see him go.
I like Beverly as a starter, but a change of pace PG off the bench would be good. Somebody that can attack the rim, can shoot like a cannonball and play some adequate individual defense. I wonder where we can find one of those
Avery Bradley got 8 mil. Bev can hit a 3 or two, so let's say market value is 9/yr? 3 yr 27 mil once the cap jumps that'll be a steal
But Bradley's upside was considered higher, was already a very good defender, and had some upside on offense. I doubt anyone will feel the same way towards Bev
Beverley is at least as good a defender and has a better offensive game. When Bradley signed his extension, it's not like people didn't know what he was
You both are wrong. Bev is a great on the ball defender. I agree with that. But his defense is overrated. Point guards have great games against us regularly. This is because Bev's team defense is very bad. It's cute if you don't realize this. But his tenacious defense due to 150% hustle is great at times, but very undisciplined. This team needs a secondary playmaker other than Harden. He should not be responsible for 95% of the play making or we will never accomplish anything. Play making has to either come from the other wing (the 3 spot) or the pg position in the starting line up. It doesn't matter that your opinion is his role isn't to make plays on this team. Because he tries to do it quite often. That is due to the fact that it is his role. He just fails at it more times than not. Additionally, Ariza is more important to the team's overall defense than Bev. That leaves Bev as the odd man out. The team needs a huge upgrade at the 1. Bev is overrated. There are at least 15 starting pg's in this league better than him. The position is easily uprgadeable. Once again, you're just wrong.
Yes Irving is hot but his defense is way too aggressive, thus Irving drives by him every single time..overrated defense!!
Defense at the PG spot is overrated in general. There are too many above average to elite PG's in the league at the moment. You simply can't stop them without team effort. Individual defense won't do that for an entire game. Bev doesn't play team defense well. For those of you who can't remember the last time a pg had an elite game against us, just think to...tonight. This happens quite often if you choose not to be selective with your memory. Even guys who have been notably "annoyed" by Bev's antics such as Westbrook and lillard have dropped huge games on us regularly.
