"Support for the war was not only nearly unanimous within the GOP, but bipartisan. Half the Democrats in the Senate and key Democratic leaders in the House joined Republicans in the march to war. Consider this abbreviated list of prominent Democrats who supported the Iraq War: Joe Biden, Harry Reid, Steny Hoyer, Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, Richard Gephardt, John Kerry, John Edwards, Joe Lieberman, and Robert Wexler. All of these Democratic leaders, many of them potential presidents, had less sense than a congressional backbencher from Texas who mainly wanted to give speeches about Austrian economics.

Seven Republican members of Congress voted against the Iraq War—six congressmen and one senator. The number of conservative legislators who opposed the war was even smaller still, the redoubtable trio of Jimmy Duncan, John Hostettler, and Ron Paul."

How certain republicans (that give their base a terrible reputation) react to getting their butts served to them after an election: Post garbage threads like this one.

The overwhelming majority of Americans (except those who read the left behind book series) think the Iraq War was a huge cluster####. Progressives were right. Neocons were wrong, and those who deliberately misinformed the public on Iraq should be in Prison for their crimes against humanity.

Libertarians go bonkers by failing to deal with the fact that war is profitable for private corporations and certain wealthy individuals.

THE MARKET often time practically demands war.

rtsy is however an ass, he really doesn't know how to get his point across. Doing this

    asso style won't help you.

Neither candidate would end the drone war...

Agreed though. Dignifying a response to rtsy is like replying to basso.

Libertarians/economic conservatives go bonkers trying not to realize that when you have rule by markets, war is profitable for many corporations and hence highly attractive.

Markets and freedom are the cause Obama's horrible foreign policy and attack on civil liberties. OMG. We need more government and taxes to solve this now.

If we all can just the give the government, say, all of our money, we can build a Super Obama than can rule over Obama. yes. Super Obama will save us.

In a competition where two parties are incrementally escalating their attempts to please those private corporations and wealthy individuals, while voters are eternally selecting the lesser evil of the two... let's just say it does not end well.

Picking the lesser of two evils may slow the rate of acceleration, but it will never alter the direction.

I'm not interested in getting into another b****fest over the reason for the Second Gulf War, but I'll note that one does not a trend make. So, name another war which was caused by the market and not geopolitical concerns. I can actually name one, but that was well, a while ago.

Drone war is over the top. However, constant trashing of Obama and essential backing of Romney and or Rand Paul and or being the type of "libertarian" who votes GOP, which would lead to even more drones and or frequent land wars, shows that their crackport economics is much, much more important to them than their sort of concern for civil liberties, war and peace, drug wars and personal freedoms like abortion, and gay rights.
