The thread last weekend about buying the $177K house made me wonder how all you out there are affording all this expensive real estate. Now I don't expect anybody to post what they do and how much they make, keep it anonymous. We'd all lie anyway; half of us overstating it and half of us understating it. So just answer the poll honestly.
I heard this week it take around $13K a year to raise a child plus parents need to save about $40K for a Public College education. Does how much you earn influence your choice on if and how many children you will have. That figure included housing, food medical and trans portation. The report said each additional child cost less than the cost of the the first one.
I am lucky, I have been in my industry for years and have risen to the top, however, it is the worst job security in the world.... You have to be ready to pick up and go wherever the next job/money is..... DD
ONE THING you may no, OR NOT NO, is LAYWERS MAKE $$$ $$$ basedon how good we are AT LAYWERING. THAT is why DUKE makes the (html codde="PLUS SIZE GIGANT TEXT)BIG(/url) MONEY, $22,000 dollars last year!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO I WILL NOT LEN YOU MONEY
Are we talking before or after taxes? With taxes and social security deductions and stuff in Germany up to more than 50 %...that might make a difference...
ouch, and we thought we had it bad over here. I had to answer $36K-$50K, but I'm on the low end of that. (mid-to-high $30's, probably high end of that because I get extra pay for teaching overloads, teaching summer, and doing research) That is before taxes. Most people can't believe I would teach at a college for such a low salary. (hey, why do you think they actually gave me a job like that? No one else would do it for that kind of money. )
It's weird. The years that I do well I look back and have nothing to show for it. The years that I struggle, I seem to acquire more.
