Not really. I suspect there was a lot of anti-royals vote going on. Springer wasn't going to win. Kipnis wasn't going to win. Voters outside KC likely voted Altuve, but not Springer. Springer deserves to be a reserve. Altuve doesn't deserve to be an all star this year
Springer wasnt even top 15 at the last update before the final votes were in. For him to actually make it to 13 means there was a huge surge for him as well. Getting hurt before and not being able to make the game anyway is huge, to say the least, about the respect some of these young stros are getting.
Huh? After kipnis, I'd take Altuve against anyone. Even then, after Kipnis' shiny batting average, I'd argue for Altuve.

Dozier deserves to be reserve 2B. Forsythe has been third best. Granted, I wear an Altuve shirt when I go to games so I am obviously biased against him.

No. I do not dislike him. I like him. He's not a perfect player and I've criticized him (mostly for defense), but I like him. I like that he plays hard and gets a lot of production despite not being a big guy. He got voted in for his performance last year.
Though last year's numbers and his notoriety got him in, Kipnis is the only challenger to his numbers this year. Being on a good club and putting up his numbers is good enough to get a nod.
So having over twice the homers and slightly less on base is not a worthy challenger? Getting on base more and hitting for more power is not a worthy challenger? Altuve's strengths are hitting for average and stolen bases. He's doesn't have the monster average he had last year and he's been caught enough on bases to negate his stolen bases.
