You dun want him to average that many shots as a Me player, he should sacrifice for the good of the team.

He will get his 20+ ppg this year.

He is too talented on Offense, and Beard and Chris are too talented facilitating.

I think his average will be around 15 to 18 but he'll have a decent number of games where he explodes for 30 plus...especially going against smaller and lesser players

Yall act like 16ppg is chump change. He was the third option behind Westbrook. Everybody's shooting % goes down when playing with him

    Just wait

Spec when you finally get a pass from him, when he’s already ignored people open several plays before then dumps it off with 2 seconds left while the person is heavily guarded lol.

Lmao Harden is defiantly a better team player and passer but yes he’s guilty of this sometimes. Not everyone can be point god CP3

I expect the 15-18 range honestly. Obviously the big nights will rotate between them, but I think that's a realistic range. Melo is so offensively gifted that I don't see those numbers inflate with the unselfishness of the team. The most important numbers I expect to get better is his FG%. The other guys will really help him get some easy buckets. CP3 dancing around, swing to Harden outside. Pump fake and drive. Help rotation coming...oops Euro step. Fake alley oop to Clint and pass out to Melo in the corner. Boom. Mix and match as needed.

I like this approach of a reasonable 'floor' expectations for next year. The nice thing about Melo is that he's skilled enough to do more on the ball than Trevor so he'll create extra opportunities when Trevor would have passed out of his situation.

I was looking at shot charts to compare Ariza's attempt numbers at certain spots and Melo's percentages at those same spots to try to figure out what number of shots he might take in certain spots.

    Ariza:
    http://nbasavant.com/player.php?player_id=2772
    Melo:
    http://nbasavant.com/player.php?player_id=2546

Ariza has 110 attempts in the right corner, 75 at the left corner, 132 at the basket, 7 midrange, 25 in the paint and 256 at the top for three.

Melo makes 41.7 from the right corner, 28.6% from the left corner, 55.6% at the basket, 39.6% midrange, 43.9% in the paint and 33.6% up top.

That's 137.6 points from the right corner, 64.4 from the left corner, 146.8 at the basket, 5.6 points from midrange, 22 points in the paint, and 258 points up top.

That's 634.4 points over the season for Ariza's shot selection at Melo's percentages. Ariza played 67 games so that would be 9.5 points per game. Add 1.1 FTs and that's 10.6 points per game if the role of SF doesn't change.

I personally can't imagine Melo using the left side nearly as much as Ariza does. I also see Melo playing more like Ryno at the beginning of plays. Once he gets the ball, I'm sure he'll be more aggressive though. Melo's willingness to drive should allow him to be closer to the three point line when receiving the ball. If players play him tight, he might be able to cut to the basket more effectively than Ariza or Ryno because of this.

I'm pretty excited about how MDmA will use him. Ariza and Ryno's shot charts should be available to Melo with some leniency to do slightly more. Coach will probably encourage early shots and my feeling is that that's how Olympic Melo got himself going. No hesitation helped his skillset blow-up into his best stretch of basketball he's ever played. Hopefully that early shot taking will encourage him to be his best self.

Melo is a top 10 players in the NBA, according to Nene, so I would say Melo is going to average 30 points a game with the Rockets
