Alpha and Beta are PERSONALITY types, not talent-level roles.

Kyle Lowry is more "Alpha" a PERSONALITY than Anthony Davis, but Lowry's talent level makes him a secondary option.

If its about player roles, can even say Dirk Nowitzki in his prime was an "Alpha" he was the undisputed Mavs franchise player. Though few would say his personality and leadership style was strong and commanding.

 

Dion Waiters has alpha mentality, does he qualify?

Lol, are you even paying attention to the NBA these days?

He's one of the best two way players in the NBA. And he has a far bigger defensive impact than Kawhi does (Kawhi is a better individual defender, but Green disrupts the offensive style an opponent play by his mere presence on the floor).

He creates so much space on offense too. Fine, he's not going to score 35 a game, but after Curry, Lebron and a few other players, no other player in the NBA would add more wins to a team than Draymond, and that is a fact. He makes everyone around him significantly better, which is the very definition of an alpha.

Lebron not a Alpha in my book. He is a beta1a+(the closest you can get to a alpha without actually being one) but not a Alpha. Dwade still a Alpha, Westbrook and Dame Dollar are Alphas. Alphas to me have the mentality and the skill. Melo not a Alpha. Anthony Davis still to early to tell, playing in NO and with the injuries still to early. If I had to choose I had to choose i would say no to his alpha status. Harden definitely no after this season.
