Markelle Fultz will come off the Sixers' bench to begin the season, according to coach Brett Brown. Brown cited the fact that Fultz didn't play much this preseason due to a sore right knee and right shoulder. Philly also wants more shooting on the court to create space for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, and it looks like veteran PG Jerryd Bayless will get the nod on opening night.

There are a lot of whispers that Markelle could end up with a career like Beasley's. I haven't watched him much but there are a lot of odd things going on around him right now.

I'm hyped enough to have already bought tickets to their only appearance in Houston on Oct 30th.

    $50.00 for two tickets.

Edit: Sixers rookie Markelle Fultz received cortisone shot in shoulder, agent revises

Sixers rookie Markelle Fultz had fluid drained from shoulder

Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz, the top overall pick in the 2017 NBA draft, had fluid drained from his right shoulder earlier this month and is planning to visit a specialist soon, his agent told ESPN on Tuesday.

"Markelle had a shoulder injury and fluid drained out of the back of his shoulder," agent Raymond Brothers told ESPN. "He literally cannot raise up his arms to shoot the basketball. He decided to try and fight through the pain to help the team. He has a great attitude. We are committed to finding a solution to get Markelle back to 100 percent."

No decision has been made for Fultz to miss games, league sources said.

Fultz had the shoulder drained prior to start of the regular season, which caused him to miss the end of the Sixers' preseason schedule, Brothers said.

Fultz, 19, has struggled to shoot the ball in his first several NBA games, resisting jump shots and leaning almost exclusively on drives to the basket. He is shooting 33 percent (9-for-27) from the floor and 50 percent (6-for-12) from the free throw line. He has averaged 19 minutes in the Sixers' four games.

"From a basketball perspective, it's been encouraging to see that Markelle can get any shot he wants during the games, but he has been unable to shoot the ball," Brothers told ESPN.

The Sixers traded the No. 3 overall pick and a future first-round choice to the Boston Celtics for the chance to select Fultz with the No. 1 overall pick. Fultz played one season of college basketball at the University of Washington.

Poor Fultz. Bizarre injury that forces you to shoot like SHaq. He should be sitting and resting

Fultz will be fine, he just needs to sit his entire rookie year out so he can come back as a superstar next year like all the others 1st overall picks from Philly.

No one find it weird the Sixers are actually letting Fultz play with their history of shutting down players with even a hint of an injury.

Not at all, the process is over. They are shooting for the stars (30 wins) this season.

What an anomaly.. He was a phenomenal shooter in college. Then the story goes, he adjusted his shooting stroke and fked up his shot over this summer. Now he has a shoulder injury and can barely lift his arm (on a team that rests players like no other)?

Really doesn't add up. Not sure what whispers Nook is referring to, but the kid has taken 5 steps back since a year ago.

Sixers looked like a 50 win team to me. They have that kind of talent, but they need to grow up.
