got this idea from reading another thread: how good will this team become if we replace asik with a healthy yao?

yao is as good as asik on defence if not better. on offense, it will be a totally different level. yao can hit mid-range jumpers at a consistent rate (spacing the floor) and was one of the best post player in the league

the downside is yao is not as mobile as asik, so our run & gun style is unlikely to work with yao as our center. However, we will be a great pick & roll team

This current team wouldn't be that great for yao. It runs a lot and Yao can't do that. Lin can't shoot the three which would hurt with spacing. They would need to make a bunch of changes to the team to accommodate him.

A really poor fit with Yao. He'd be gassed in 5 minutes the way we play now.

Even if we slowed it down, Lin would be completely nonexistant since he can't catch and shoot.

Yao was as fast as Asik when he was really 296-310. You do realize he was closer to 400lbs the later part of his career with the injuries. But check out how nimble he was back when him and Mcgrady just joined up. Look up the 13 pts in 33 seconds Tmac did. Now look at how Yao could get up and down the floor quickly with no effort in the back ground.

Yao's run and gun style would fit perfectly with our current team.

When did Yao hit mid-range jumpers at a consistent rate for us? I don't remember this.

Yao in the middle would completely change how we play. Its hard to predict how much better we'd be.
