A lot of fans do not realize how good Sabonis was before his injuries. He was extremely explosive, strong, smart, skilled and an all world passer. He may well have won multiple MVP’s. You add a top 5 player in the world to that mix and he wins at least 2-3 titles.
Very true, yet I think you could get one with a lower pick. I am not sure about the odds but cornerstone Centers are rare, and even Oden was not really dominant when healthy. A nice prospect no doubt barring his injuries. It would depend on your plans how to build a team.
Him being as big as he was, it was only a matter of time before he would succumb to the injuries he did. Much like Yao showed, the human frame just can't support that massive of a size in the midst of 40 minute/night games of consistently running full effort, jumping full effort, and utilizing agile footwork. Its why Shaq may end up going down as one of the most impressive human beings ever to play professional sports.... while big/powerful, he had just the right amount of proportionate growth as well as the necessary muscle tone to stay supported. The best comparison would be football offensive lineman.... but each NFL play is actually quite short, they're never jumping, and they off-set some of the leg strain with their upper body support.
Yep. The human body has a hard time taking that much stress. Look at Ralph Sampson. His career was never the same after his first major injury and was over within a couple of years after that.
Some people say LeBron is a bigger stronger, better version of Pippen, but I think he's that version of Clyde
"You can't teach height." How many times I remember hearing that. You can't teach innate talent, either, which was often lost in the calculus.
Clyde drexler could have beat the bulls and Jordan in 1992 if Clyde drexler ain't foul out of game 2 and game 5 of the nba finals. Alot of key trailblazer players fouled out of the 1992 finals, Robinson, duckworth, and Kersey.
One forgets how good he was not only because he played during the Jordan era but also played alongside Dream late in his career (and lucky for us). Dude was a stud. 6'7", ran the floor like a gazelle, played D. Smart overall player (as opposed to the "I agree" semi-entity he plays as a Rockets announcer). And they didn't call him Glide for nothin.
Clyde is one of those examples like Harden of steals not equaling being a good defender. Clyde risked too much on D to play the passing lanes and rack up those steals. I do think he was a slightly above avg defender overall though
LOL WHAT? rozen is no where near clyde the glide drexler. He was he was half the player drexler was. During clyde prime he was built like lebron james. He was pretty big for a SG and his athleticism was freakish.
George Gervin meets Dr. J = Clyde The Glide Imagine if he had hands as big as Dr J or Connie Hawkins or MJ
BTW, what happened to nicknames, especially for the major superstars? They used to be so iconic. Now they're just lame initials or shortened names or just lack creativity. "The Beard?" What happens if he decides to shave? CP3? LBJ/Bron? KD? I know KD has a few, but they're so lame that no one calls him Durantula, Slim Reaper was good but didn't stick. Dame? Brodie sounds like some college frat nickname. Joker is cool. The Process? I guess. Greek Freak is okay, but The Alphabet is lame. The Claw is dope. Ice Trae is dope too.
The nicknames got played after awhile kawhi Leonard put that lawsuit against Nike. It's up to the sports announcers. Steve a Smith has jacked up the media and now alot of media is up tight.
