seems like the t-mac and yao hate has ended, and 50 wins is in sight - so my sig is no longer needed.

so happy to see this board return to a bit of normalcy. of course, winning does that. but i'll go on record as saying this:

I predicted 10 games over .500 by the all-star break back in december and yall called me crazy - who's crazy now!!!???!!

    huh???

His play is solid, but they don't pay him all that money to be solid, they pay him to be extraordinary

with the role players that we have right now, we only need him to if they are close games and to be clutch in the 4th. he has done that.

he's not going to avg a lot of points like bron or kobe when we constantly have 4-5 guys in double figures.

let him save that energy for the playoffs. we want tmac and yao to be as fresh as possible down the stretch going into the playoffs.

Great analogy, but when the Lake show had Shaq, the last couple of titles had Kobe (as much as i hate the guy) still avg. over 20....even close to 30 one year.

but Yao is not Shaq not by any means.
Lets not mention that most of the laker team didn't have 4 ppl in double figures much. So what do you want from T-mac?

First he scores like 30 and people are like, wow he hogs the ball. He plays well gets his 20 6 6 and people say his not playing like Kobe. His playing like his been instructed to. Please give a plausible explaination on how he should be "extraordinary" and still get ppl into double figures like he did today. Or take your hating else where

Wait just a ******* minute, nobody is hating on anybody. No Yao is not Shaq, but the Lakers still had a lot of other guys contributing.

I'm not saying T-Mac has to avg. 30, but nor do i want him to focus on distrubiting. The truth comes out in the clutch.....It is to be seen.

i think the hawks game is mcgrady's best game since his return from the knee injury. he could've easily had 20+ pts had his shooting % been a little normal. and i think the hawks game was the best game of the team of the same stretch and that is not by coincident.

this is a team constructed as such that it has two superstars and role players. we need great chemistry amongst all of them. our path to the championship should be (1) yao playing great; (2) mcgrady playing great; and (3) role players make significant contributions. lack of any one of the three will lead to failure. right now, yao has been playing well but still imo a few steps away from where he needs to be. role players are doing great lately. but how mcgrady will perform for the rest of the season remains uncertain. and i attribute that mainly to his injuries and illness. i thought with all the talent and bball iq he has, he'd have fully integrated himself into the new system by now. but obviously this has been delayed a bit.

we still have 2 more months before the playoffs. i feel like we have time to make strides in all 3 factors.

T-Mac has toned down the bad jumpers(long early shot clock contested ones). Thats about the only change he has made. The rest of the difference is other players not going back into "watch T-Mac mode" that was prevalent AFTER the 6-1 start when shots weren't falling. In general shots are starting to go in a bit more.

so whats this extraordinary your talking about?

The only person i've seen that is SUPER SUPER efficient to be honest is Kevin Martin, the guy is crazy, his shot selection is always perfect. None of the superstars come close to him and his shot selection.

Shot selection. Most who are bashing his selection are doing so from tonight's game after the outcome was decided(up 30 late 3rd q) or selective memory from a game earlier this season. His "bad shots" (and lets face it, T-Mac is tall enough and can elevate enough to get a "good look" over anyone even if they are right up on him) have been way down since returning from injury.

Even when he has a poor shooting night he will take the vast majority of his shots within the offense. Those are the kind of shots you want him to take. Shots coming off the picks. Shots attacking the basket. Shots on kickouts when Yao gets doubled and the ball swings to him. Shots where his man goes under the pick and he is inside the 3 point line. And you even allow him to take the pullup 3 point shot with 35 seconds left in the quarter to go 2 for 1. Those are good shots for Tracy.

one thing i've noticed is hes lost a lot of elevation. he used to be able to take one jump and elevate a foot over his defender while swishing a jumper in his face, but he cant do that anymore. unfortunately we now have a damaged goods t-mac who will always be inconsistent.

In the past, people didnt say he hogged the ball b/c he scored thirty. They said he hogged the ball b/c of HOW he scored 30 (heat checks, isolations, and bad shots). And also, its incredibly illogical to use his recent play to refute accusations based on his historical play.

Granted, he's played great these past few games. Maybe its b/c he's recovering from illness or out of shape. Maybe his diminished capacity has forced him to rely on his teammates more. Who knows? Lets just hope that he continues this play after he fully recovers or gets back in shape.

Btw, I like how you say that when his teammates score double digits, tmac gets them there. But when they dont, you think they should improve their play. Also, dont discount the fact that we were playing the hawks. Sure, a win is a win, but dont get too excited about beating a eastern team with a losing record.

He can get a good look if he shoots it from half court. Does that make it a good shot?

The people who bash his shot selection are the ones who hate his fadeaway 18 footers, pull up 3 pointers in transition, 3 pointers with 22 seconds left on the shot clock, heat checks, etc...

The problem is, he's capable of making a few of these, and when he does, people forget that it was a bad shot. For instance, remember his basket in the minnesota game that gave the rockets the lead for good. He was at the free throw line, heavily guarded, and had lost his dribble. Instead of resetting the offense, he chose to throw a pump fake and then shoot a fadeaway. Sure, it went in, but does that mean it was a good shot to take?

He's doing good and adapted well to the system so far so no complaints there. If he keeps this up it will hopefully show in the playoffs.
