How can we get Kevin Garnett?

There has been some talk about Kevin Garnett the past week, after Boston's first round exit.

I think KG would be a great fit. I would rather get Garnett (obviously cheaper than Howard) and Asik paired together, than to get Howard. Also, I think Garnett's mentality for the game is almost the opposite of Howard -- Garnett seems to be all about team right now (not that Howard isn't... but that's the perception).

A lot of folks may not like KG, but the guy gives it his 110%. He is still a force on boards and a weapon (especially pick and roll with Harden, Lin, Parsons).

He along with Beverly would bring a lot of toughness to this team, in a positive way.

    Asik
    Garnett
    Parsons
    Harden
    Lin

Like the idea of having Garnett in Houston on a 2 year contract.

It's been talked about before. The problem is KG is too competitive to "waste" his time with a young team like houston, especially now that he's near retirement. He's more likely to stay in Boston or go to a contender.

But I do think he'd be a good fit here. We need a 4 and some leadership.

KG has a no trade clause in his contract meaning, he can't be traded if he doesn't want to be. The guy isn't going anywhere.

    He bleeds green.

Not going anywhere unless Pierce is going with him.

Didn't know about no trade clause - thanks. Still think Houston looks to be the "better" team over the next two years, compared to Boston... but I knowI have a biased view

The guy gave it his all. In his 6 playoff games, KG averaged 13 pts, 14 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.

On NBA.com (http://stats.nba.com/?GameScope=Playoffs&PlayerOrTeam=Player&StatCategory=Efficiency) he is listed as the 4th most efficicient player of the playoffs:

    1) Kevin Durant
    2) Lebron James
    3) Chris Paul
    4) Kevin Garnett

Don't salvage your future for a stop-gap who is good, but not the guy that will "put you over the top." KG is exactly that; a guy who, although is still a good player, is far from the difference maker we need at the 4. Thanks but no thanks.

That would be great if we could get Pierce & KG for a couple of years. KG or Pau would fit well on this team short term, as either could tutor our pf crew, hopefully including DMo. To get KG, we'd have to take Pierce. That'd make our 3/4/5 rotation Asik, KG, Pierce, Parsons, Delfino or Garcia and maybe DMo.

How are you salvaging your future with KG, he's actually a great investment for the future. For a young player, there's always a mentor that helped them come up. KG is still effective, he grabbed 15+ rebounds while hitting clutch shots and playing top flite D in this year's playoffs. He is basically a mlb out there, I see him directing players like Bradley/Green all the time. We need a Thibodeau type player.

With Mchale here, KG could be persuaded. Add Howard, and KG will see we're legit. He's not going to demand a long term expensive contract wither, he's probably in the 8-10 mil range for 1-2 years.

This is actually a pretty good idea. Putting Garnet next to Asik would put us over the top. Plus, add all the experience he could share with our young core of players.

If we can add Garnett to the below line up that would be delightful. :)

    PG: Chris Paul
    SG: James Harden
    SF: Chandler Parsons
    PF: Kevin Garnett
    C: Dwight Howard

    :)

Agreed. And if we loose Garcia, we definitely need someone with some veteran leadership.

I think that'd be our only shot... Garnett recognizing that the run is over in Boston and McHale convinces him that Houston is the perfect place to play out the string.

Odds not good, but you never hit a homerun if you don't swing the bat.

No point in getting someone that's on the verge of retiring. This team is too young and Garnetts' window is closing fast therefore he probably wouldn't want to come to Houston.
