i honestly never realized that the opinion of Martin was so high here. Everything seems to ebb and flow.
Melo, you're such a disease. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/yTJ7t-pWc_0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>)
Best thread I've seen in a long time. Love the "Well how can we get D Howard" response in here too lol
I am still giddy and in disbelief that we lifted Harden from the Thunder. The guy is a freaking animal! The fact that we took him from the team that stole the Sonics is just the cherry on top. What a great thread to bump. Thanks!
can't. failure. this is not completing a pass. this is an interception at life. never making it. Can don't attitude that simply won't cut it with us americans. You see it's called resiliency, style, with a dash of je ne sais quoi. we will steal your best lines and your best wimmins. Not exactly. It's not like we were judging the same Harden, he was in his sophomore year at the time and simply wasn't this good. I'm pretty sure more than Rocket fans would have ranked Martin over Harden for that particular year as well. If you've seen my stance on Harden throughout the years you'd find many discouraging post...my main problem with him and him being a superstar was that he seemed content on being the 3rd guy on a team. I did not want that guy. I even said as much during a Tyreke Evans thread. I would rather have a guy that wanted that superstardom than a guy whose just fine playing 3rd fiddle to Durant and Westbrook. Although when Harden got here he seemed to chase that superstardom and he's become what he has become today. How many post would you find of guys trashing Dwight when we had Yao? Bumping old threads is a funny exercise but things change, just look at how many people were excited about getting Lin despite losing Dragic. This is like saying Portland is wrong for drafting Oden. They weren't, they were just unlucky that he couldn't stay on the court. No one has a crystal ball so people are bound to be wrong. This is funny because when the Rockets DID get James Harden the popular thought about the deal was that they got another Joe Johnson...and at the time I thought he would be better than that. Not many people actually thought he'd be this good. If you thought so, then please provide a old post of you saying so. Obviously the OP did think so a bit...he though't he'd be a Robin to someone's batman and a 2nd option. He didn't even think he'd be this good.
Where in that post did I backpedal? In fact... Hell, even Morey can be wrong. If it were up to him, we'd have Pau Gasol and Nene right now.
I thought Harden was more of a 2nd option when Morey first got him. Every team needed a 2nd option player, and Harden was the key to getting our first option. Didn't expect Harden to be this capable of scoring, especially in crunch time. Haven't seen a Rocket player this consistently clutch in a long time.
Good thing I was always a strong supporter of Harden. I always believed in him since he was in middle school.
