Given our draft status in 2003, being the in the second round, I think Jason Kapono out of UCLA would be a good bench 3 that could play to the rockets SF role. He's 6-8, 215 and loves to park outside for the midrange J and the long boom 3. He's also and excelent spot up shooter with close to 50% 3pt shooting. He's extremely smart and most of the time is great at finding the open man underneath with good entry passes, which is what we need from a SF. He's also a pretty good handler even though most of the time he doesn't get by his man driving or slashing but he does get the nice kickout or drop pass. He's also really good at passing full court. He plays with much heart and soul and even though he's usually outmatched he's not afraid to get inside to battle for a rebound. But he does need alittle more work on his D, not that he doesn't give the effort he just doesn't seem physically good enough yet. To sum it up he's a team player that's smart similar to Shane Battier. He not as quick or athletic as most but we already have many of those players on our team, what we need is more smart players that understand the game and beleives in a team. I'd say if he was on our team he would be our second smartest player after Yao Ming, which we need more off. He would be a great bench player and he's good in clutch play.
Kapano makes a good case for when you stayed too long in college. He should have come out as a fresh or soph.
