The textbook I quoted says that alcohol is the only nutrient that can increase our HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol). So if you are low in HDL cholesterol due to bad eating habit, some alcohol is good for you.
My main problem with alcohol is its sugar content. In addition it is mostly empty calories. In addition alot of liquors need to be mixed with even more sugary drinks. If you want to get the benefits of wine, but without the sugar, try rest Resveratrol supplements. Its all the rage in the supplement community right now.
I'm not buying the sugar argument. I lost 60 lbs. at one point, and it had nothing to do with drinking. Coke, or mixed drinks. People who think that drinking diet soda cures anything are r****ded.
