Is anybody else absolutely terrified about the fact that Kubiak said he hopes Andre comes up to him this week and tells him he's ready to play?? Why does it have to be SUCH a struggle to do even the most menial tasks with this franchise?!? There isn't a single person in this city that can justify Andre Johnson playing in this game on Sunday. We have literally EVERYTHING to gain by losing, yet we have our head coach saying, "If Andre can play, he will play." GAHHH!!!!
Thats the problem with the whole unknown on our coaching situation. Kubiak needs to go, but he's fighting for his job and is willing to play guys who are banged up and or taking a beating week in and week out like Andre and even Foster and Schaub to an extent because he has nothing to lose. If he had no doubt he was coming back next season and seasons on after (which he better the hell not be) then I'm sure he would be taking a more conservative approach and looking to keep these guys fresh for next year.
Duncan is the best example because it was blatant tanking, Robinson was ready to return but they kept him benched, and the difference in talent after the #1 pick was ridiculous. 1. San Antonio Tim Duncan 2. Philadelphia Keith Van Horn 3. Boston Chauncey Billups 4. Vancouver Antonio Daniels 5. Denver Tony Battie 6. Boston Ron Mercer 7. New Jersey Tim Thomas 8. Golden State Adonal Foyle 9. Toronto Tracy McGrady 10. Milwaukee Danny Fortson 11. Sacramento Olivier Saint-Jean 12. Indiana Austin Croshere 13. Cleveland Derek Anderson 14. LA Clippers Maurice Taylor 15. Dallas Kelvin Cato
Some of the mock draft out there: 11. Houston Texans: Justin Blackmon, WR, OU State 12/20/2010: The Texans get an extremely talented WR in Justin Blackmon. They could use a lot of help on defense but the top 2 defensive tackles are gone and their isn’t as much of an option at defensive end at this point in the 2011 NFL Mock Draft. Blackmon would be a great weapon for Schaub opposite of Andre Johnson and would hopefully take pressure off of him so he is injured less. #10 Houston Texans Stephen Paea Ht/Wt: 6-1/304 lbs Position: DT School: Oregon State Class: Senior 12. Houston Texans Top Needs: DT, S Selection: DT Nick Fairley, Auburn Tigers, 6-5, 298 pounds Reason: While at Auburn, Nick Fairley has exhibited an explosive first step and proven that he can be a highly effective pass-rusher. Mel Kiper Jr. has Fairley as a top-10 lock and believes that he "epitomizes the ideal penetrating 4-3 tackle". 11. Houston - Stephen Paea, DT Oregon State The Texans continue to throw high draft picks at their defensive line, but with little success. Amobi Okoye has been a disappointment on the inside and there's really no one else of note at the defensive tackle position for a defense that is amongst the worst in the league. I'm hopin' we lose the last game and Det/Cleve/Dallas/Arizona/SF wins to move into top 10.
those must be pretty old. texans are guaranteed a top 5 pick with a loss on sunday. and with jacksonville having plenty to play for i hope it happens.
I would've agreed midway through the season, but if said WR can become a dual threat like Desean/Dez, this offense becomes super potent and special teams suddenly becomes a plus instead of a minus.
Our problems with the return game won't be fixed with a speedy returner. Desean/Dez would've been creamed before the 20-25yd line 99% of the time as well behind this bunch.
I hope we take Fairley/Paea. But if and only if Peterson, and maybe Prince Amukamara are off the board. I'd hate to have more youth in the secondary, but Peterson is a game changer. Prince has a good shot at being a pro bowler for years to come also. If we can get a good corner in free agency (Champ Bailey, anyone), and groom one of these two guys behind that guy (along with Glover, and maybe Kareem), it would do absolute wonders for our secondary.
Is this accurate? Haven't seen any updated draft boards, but if we lose Sunday we are guaranteed top 5? That is beautiful!
I agree with you!!! Losing these last games will be worth it if we can getour hands on Peterson. He is the most talented DB to come out in many many years. Any other year Prince would be the prize of the draft and Fairley reminds me of Gerald Mecoy. Those our the three players I want in the order. I know Im dreaming but in a perfect world we get Cower as our coach. We draft Peterson and we trade a pick for Haynesworth even though he is a bonehead.
There are 4 teams that have more losses than we do and 5 other teams at 5-10 along with Minnesota being at 5-9. There's noway to really project where we're going to picking at and top 5 is extremely optimistic
Spoiler We're sitting at 8 currently. Picking at 7 with a loss seems like the worst we can do since the SF/Cards play each other. The Eagles can clinch the division tonight so they might rest their starters against the Boys. Hopefully, the Jets will do the same against the Bills. Sucks that the Ravens will be playing for the division but the Bengals usually play them tough. We could potentially get as high as 4 if the current tie-breakers remain the same.
Thanks Eagles, this really helped the Texans. Vikings go 6-9 and one game ahead of the Texans in the draft. Plus, now Eagles should rest their starters especially the limping Vick, against the Cowboys meaning another win for Dallas and better draft position for the Texans. Teams to root for this Sunday: BUF @ NYJ CIN @ BAL MIN @ DET PIT @ CLE ARI @ SF SD @ DEN DAL @ PHI Most importantly Texans MUST LOSE.
Dallas will probably trot out Steven McGee(and while he may be a good QB in the future) He will not to well playing in the cold of Philly. Dallas needs to lose...... Its a huge game in that regard.
What? Don't we want Dallas to win? EDIT: Wait, you mean Dallas wants to lose. I see what you did thar.
